well, saakashivili HAS BEEN funded by the US government. as well as youshenko in the ukraine. that's a fact, actually...
I think you'd need to have a little more than that to conclude the US was behind it.
Well, this leads us down the "That's no different than when *you* funded..." path

but supporting a foreign government does not directly equate to being responsible for it's actions. I would agree it does raise the probability, but there is not a direct connection.
I think it's fair to say that even if Georgia's attack on South Ossetia was not answered by a Russian military response, this wouldn't have worked out to the US advantage: we'd still end up being supporters of someone who used military force against the population in the territory he governs, which resulting in damage to civilian property and non-combatant deaths.
I *want* to hear our government saying that Saakawhatsis' use of force was inappropriate, and that they are constructively involved in a peaceful solution. I *don't* like the idea that my government would foment and then somehow take advantage of a situation knowing that it would involve civilians getting killed (even though I'm pretty sure they are capable of it).
Aaaaaaaaaand, therein lies the very problem.
Our government is involved in a lot of shady shit, but trying to blame the US in any way, shape, or form for this fucking bloody fiasco is so over-the-top assine that it boggles the mind.
Laughable.
The amount of Fuckery in this thread has, truly, reached an all-time high.
The fact that not one forum member has - at the very mother fucking least - decried the violence with even a little sad face emoticon says it all. It well and truly does.
Here's one anyway.

Sorry little sadface emoticon. Everyone loves to use you in the Iraq threads, but forget about you for....oh.....all other forms of violence around the world.
Sorry, little buddy. I'm here for ya though. I'll not be afraid to bring you out of the dusty, musty old closet.
I'll be the brave one.
I'll be your pal.
Here ya go.
There. Much better.
