I'm not sure how that thing works, but here's what I saw:dysanfel wrote:Everyone from Europe who is not familiar with how US elections work, I suggest you go to http://www.270towin.com and see how the electoral map is working against Obama. Obama will lose in Florida, and if he loses Ohio as Gore and Kerry did McCain will be President. I urge you to look at the Gore and Kerry loses and see the uphill battle Obama will have.
I am voting for Obama, but I do not expect him to win. Remember, it only takes 51% of the vote in 11 states to be president of the US.
President George W. Bush , taking a more hands-on role after suffering a political pummeling over the botched federal response to Katrina, said: "I feel good about this event."
is just 1 small paragraphThe monster storm, which killed more than 80 people in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Jamaica, slammed ashore Monday morning as a Category Two hurricane packing winds of 110 miles (175 kilometers) per hour.

I guess the truly amazing thing though is that all the news about it Ive seen here is about new Orleans, yet:

Notice I am giving Obama Colorado, New Mexico, and New Hampshire. And even those states are not a given. Obama loses Ohio and he loses the election.forge wrote:I'm not sure how that thing works, but here's what I saw:dysanfel wrote:Everyone from Europe who is not familiar with how US elections work, I suggest you go to http://www.270towin.com and see how the electoral map is working against Obama. Probability of Reaching 270
Democrats 84%
Republicans 14%
Neither (Tie) 2%
EDIT: I'm quite interested to know how it works though - how are you coming to that conclusion when what I'm looking at looks so heavily weighed in Obama's favour - does it tell you anywhere which are most likely of the swing states to go either way?

but how did you come to that? the landscape seems pretty different to 2004 - there was a landslide in the 2006 house elections, now there is recession and frequent talk of Bush being the worst president in history, increasingly unpopular, while McCain is already 72 years old Obama is apparently getting huge supportdysanfel wrote: 2008...my prediction
I looked how wide of a win the Republicans has in certain states. Other states have long traditions of voting one way. For instance, Virgina has gone Republican for over 40 years. Other states Bush beat Kerry by large margins. To think Obama can magically turn around this is absurd. The Republicans are far too organized for this.forge wrote:but how did you come to that? the landscape seems pretty different to 2004 - there was a landslide in the 2006 house elections, now there is recession and frequent talk of Bush being the worst president in history, increasingly unpopular, while McCain is already 72 years old Obama is apparently getting huge supportdysanfel wrote: 2008...my prediction
plus personality wise, Obama and Kerry are in a different league
I'm not understanding the criteria you're judging it on- if it's based on results in 2000 or 2004 that seems like it wouldn't make sense
