A friendly reminder....
Yeah! The more i read the more right wing i feel about the whole thing. now i think we need an army of uniformed "enforcers" who will actually physically visit people in their homes and administer, shall we call it, "corrective punishment".
Thead hijacking? Severe beating.

Like that.
Fortunately i have the answer. I inserted a fresh carrot and came up with this master plan. Robert please take note and if you need me to come with my drawings and planning notes I am in Berlin a week next Tuesday.

Without a doubt, troll post counts are fed to them. I'm not advocating troll behaivior, but they play the ignore game better than most troll-ees8O wrote:Hi Mesmer, even if people followed your golden rules, it wouldn't help much because for #1 even on-topic posts are dragged down by uncivilised and disrespectful behaviour, and for #3 the local trolls don't need feeding to prosper as evidenced by post counts in the 100s or even 1000s for some users who can't seem to behave decently.Mesmer wrote:...
ok seriously, who doesn't know the golden rules by now:
1. click on what interests you
2. post ideas that contribute somehow: +1 if it's about a subject you command.
3. don't feed the local trolls.
it's a simple algorithm ... why do you think you need overlords? why?
let's do this.

Even the simplest rule for a civilised forum...

This is a place which is mostly unmoderated,
since we assume you are old enough to communicate
in an appropriate way. However, some of you seem to
think that being cool is based on insulting others.
It is not.
It does not matter, if you have one post or 5000+, if
you want to post here and be part of this mostly nice
and helpful community you have to respect a minimal
set of rules, as stated here:

Thank you!

Troll-ees - feeders of trolls. I'd say it's a bigger problem than trolls
UKRuss has got the right idea. How about everyone's own personal category

If this becomes another forum where we all kiss each other's asses and any comment less than cheerful and positive is not tolerated, count me out. Maybe I'm spoiled by my freedom of speech, being a dirty American and all.
If you aren't emotionally equipped to handle the language or subject matter on here, why not go elsewhere?
That or grow up.
Whichever.

Yeah, keep riding the freedom of speech horse you rantingmotherfuckingsonofabitch!
I repeat my suspect that many of the "dirty Americans" holding the "freedom of speech" flag high in the air to justify being infant assholes on virtual-communities (aka you don't have to look people straight into the face when calling them shit) are just releasing the pressure build up by living in a far more constricted and prude society than they like to admit.
Consider this, the age of enlightment took only place in Europe, most american settlers left before that and most of them like much of the rest of the world never got there. That's probably one of the reasons why so many stubborn western "extremists" mistake "freedom of speech" with pushing their own reactionary world-view onto other people.
It's so much easier to live with black and white than with color.

I know Russ, I deliberately chose to omit the french based oU to accomodate to our free speeching friends. They don't like the imperialistic implications and associations accrueing from the use of british english as it reminds them on the once world-spanning British Empire suppressing any notion of what made the american way of life come to be.

You're the one who's resorted to name calling and infantile behavior. People like you are the reason this topic was started in the first place and why we're under watch now. I have yet to needlessly bash someone. In fact, I started asking why there has to be such abuse around here long before this thread was started.
All I'm saying is, it's our own decision to stay, and if our opinions are to be censored, then I'm leaving.
And way to go with the American spelling of color. hahahahaha
My "grow up" is directed right toward you. Way to be the knee-jerk reactionary you just condemned.
Go look up Freud's "projection" defense mechanism before you humiliate yourself further.
Baron, you might have missed my repetitive notion of the fact that Crash is a role-model. And eventhough rough language was used in his initial post about starting a song-composing challenge it was a creative and music related topic. Evenmoreso the "abusive" part of the posts were kept so blantantly obvious and generalized while maintaining friendly and supportive parts ("nice, good, interesting" inthat it's even moreso a proof of how degraded this forum has become when people feel so easily uneasy about anything.
The mass of junk has made it nearly impossible for regular users to differentiate useful posts from utter rubbish.
I have searched some through the forum, and will quote some utter rubbish from other threads on the next page of this thread. I have to wait for the next page, cause you can't read the thread anymore once that's posted.

Well, if the forum is asked to moderate itself them communication has to happen from those who are buggered. Hoping for relief by simple ignoring other people ruinning your threads has proved to not help much at all.forge wrote:I'd counter that every one of those 100s and thousands of posts have been responded to by someone8O wrote: and for #3 the local trolls don't need feeding to prosper as evidenced by post counts in the 100s or even 1000s for some users who can't seem to behave decently.

people like the drama
ah, sorry, I'm a bit slow this morn. Yes, yank baiting, why not? It is Thursday after all.Crash wrote:I know Russ, I deliberately chose to omit the french based oU to accomodate to our free speeching friends. You may be right, Forge. But I wouldn't interpret that solely as lust for the drama, but more as acustomed real-life behavior rolling over to the virtual community. If in real-life someone comes around to interrupt you talking to some friends then you tell him to leave you alone or at least contribute to the topic. In real-life that usually works, because of the physical presence. Here it doesn't work well, but it's hard to free oneself from those communication customs.
Thinking about it on the other hand, "french" based should imply just the opposite. It was the french who went over to America to help its people do away with monarchy. Now does the Statue of Liberty wear underwear or not?UKRuss wrote:ah, sorry, I'm a bit slow this morn. Yes, yank baiting, why not? Most people don't relate the U to french anyway, including the english I guess. Uneducated maggots!
