There are additional brackets attached to the modified A-frame stand holding up the computer that also hold up the APC, the nanokey and the trackball.nuxnamon wrote: didn't know the JP8000 came in rack form... that's nice along with all your hard synths. .. how do you make your nano pad and trackball levitate like that? nice curtains also..
+1, it's rare to see and it's THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A STUDIO.Hidden Driveways wrote:GrooveNinja gets points for properly setting up a pair of Genelecs.
GAFM ***you know, i think a lot of people are doing this just to have fun. i have a friend who always used to come over and move around my monitors and aim them towards the center and it was like dude... that's fine but i'm really not doing any serious mixing here (or even recording, for that matter, just jamming).SubFunk wrote:+1, it's rare to see and it's THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A STUDIO.Hidden Driveways wrote:GrooveNinja gets points for properly setting up a pair of Genelecs.
but then you don't need to wonder that people claim all sorts of nonsense about mixing, mastering stereo fields and so on... if they can't hear shit with certain setups you see around here... (but having very good gear, just wrongly used!)
EDIT: they are a bit to high, though unless he is standing while mixing or he should point them down on an angle. easy to do with the iso pods

test signals here: http://www.genelec.com/learning-center/test-signals/
general setup read here: http://www.genelec.com/learning-center/ ... dspeakers/
also this is based on genelec models, but it can give you a rough idea about room vs speaker size,
because to many people still think bigger is always better: http://www.genelec.com/learning-center/ ... selection/
p.s. that applies not only to genelecs but all systems around! (except some very special designs)
personal note on the side:
that is something i have a very hard time understanding, i mean people devoting all there love, passion and money to what seems to them a very important thing in life: music
and then not putting in any effort in order to set up the most critical and important issue in a studio environment: setting up your monitors right!
fair enough... i just mentioned it, it's a personal feeling i have and i expressed it. it probably comes from being annoyed about posts regarding sound issues that come from mixing / production... out of people having environments (with good gear in most cases but set up the wrong way!) where it's not a surprise that they don't hear a thing. so i felt like posting a few tips for the ones who might want to improve there set ups with out in many cases even spending a penny, just by simply changing / re-arranging in many cases, that's all. feel free to ignore.aburgener wrote:you know, i think a lot of people are doing this just to have fun. i have a friend who always used to come over and move around my monitors and aim them towards the center and it was like dude... that's fine but i'm really not doing any serious mixing here (or even recording, for that matter, just jamming).SubFunk wrote:+1, it's rare to see and it's THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A STUDIO.Hidden Driveways wrote:GrooveNinja gets points for properly setting up a pair of Genelecs.

i remember seeing that electronic musician feature with alessandro cortini and his buchla and modular and some other stuff and his monitors were sitting on cinder blocks, right on top of whatever table all his other crap was on, at about crotch level standing up... and i thought, if he doesn't care - why should i
