But what about using another instant mapping device alongside the APC40, not instead of it. Can different tracks/devices be selected with each simultaneously?
No, one track can be selected at a time for device control.

ok but im more interested for the OTHER side: will Live send clip matrix as standard midi message, not contolling live from a device. I just want to display the session wiew on a touch screen (but with large cells, actually live is useless with a touchscreen, it's soon multitouch windows7 era and live is not able to handle even monotouch correctly). If the message are sent only if you have an APC, then it truely sucks. anyway Im quite sure the guys who managed to make the api hack will find a solution making that midi script open, why only APC or max users could benefit of the session view infos if not a commercial lock...
You'll need Max for Live for this.

It would be really nice if you could swap the red box from horizontal to vertical. It would be so easy to add that feature. Come on AKAI and Ableton, PLEASE LET US FLIP THE RED BOX!

I think Im gonna go with a VMC600 and a POS Keyboard or a Monome for the clip matrix ... the lack of dedicated EQS makes this product useless for my needs .... too bad, it looks fun !

It has 16 assignable knobs... two per track, one for HP, one for LP? Or do you need more?

i can definetly understand spacedub. i have just decided to live with it.
or rather, to get a knobbox controller to use together with it heh.
i can understand ableton and akai for not adding those knobs though, as the cost would increase, and so would the size and weight.
given the fact that have a ridiculous price difference in eu/us though, one might think that the europeans would get atleast one eq row in that price, but..
wtf.

What about triggering Dummy Clips?
Ive been scaning and I dont see anyone talking about this.
I assume it'd be the same as launching an audio clip?
Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Thanks Alex

I need 3 per channel, I need mids, and I use the EQs simultaneously on two different tracks

I think they made the right choice in how they designed it. You can't do everything with one controller that size and price. Also eqs are much more difficult to deal with in an instant mapping controller, since they are effects, as opposed to sends, which are always there. The APC plus a knob controller like the BCR2000 will be a perfect match for the best of both worlds.

Hmm. I don't recall seeing this:
If you copy and paste a clip into a new slot, will the APC sense this and light the appropriate pad accordingly? Sorry if this has been covered.
