I had the same problem, you have to change some of the imports and specify the full path to the api core.
see
http://www.liveapi.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40
After that I got telnet and OSC working no problem.
Now trying to communicate to the API via a telnet or OSc UDP client in C# (so I can integrate the API into an existing microKontrol application if anyone has any ideas?
Hope that helps

wondering?

No, i was thinking about bending it over and giving it a good old dicking without a mouse - just getting my groove on and stroking away.
These forums give me all the typing i could ever want.
But i dont think this topic deserves that type of forum banter...

since ive started renaming all my tracks/clips/etc for ease of use in session view jam-mode, i find myself typing hell of alot!
also multitasking the forums/live when jamming makes me type even more!

My Kore controller supports OSC apparently. Maybe there is hope for it yet.

Good example of the chicken & egg problem relating to adaption of OSC... NI have actually had it in their software for a good while now.

Live 7 with OSC?? I soooo hope that's the crux of the C74 collaboration. I'd love to be able to poll Live for .als details from max/msp.
is there a relation between OSC and python?

I am still confused about what the chicken and egg problem answer means in realation to OSC and Python... but thats the crux of it innit ?
The only relation i know of is that Pythons eat chickens.
Does the lack of OSC in the Novation remote make it useless for
talking to the Live API with Python ?

Correct me if im wrong but...
The
LiveAPI (Application Programing Interface) is the controls of Live underneath the GUI.
It can do a lot more than the midi mapping or your mouse.
Python is the coding language that is being used to talk to the LiveAPI.
Open Sound Control (OSC) is a protocol for communication among computers,
sound synthesizers, and other multimedia devices that is optimized for modern networking technology,
so it is better than midi.
OSC will be usefull with
Monome 40h, Lemur, Dexter &
Kore controllers and other display-based controllers that use
it because you can ask Live through the API to send the information from an object back to the controller.
Like clip names or VST CC names.
The more of the basics people can share about this then the more FUNKY
stough we can get going with the LiveAPI instead of using work arounds
like AutoHotKeys and Midi-keystroke applications to do the things we want.
The way i see it is... There are two types of intelligence we need to assimilate.
The people who are good at coding/programming &
The people who are good with musical practices and interfaces.

BinaryB - very concise way of putting it.
By chicken and egg problem re: OSC I mean there are no OSC-capable controllers cos there is no OSC-capable software... and we have no OSC-capable software because there are no OSC-based controllers... vive capitalism!

I just bought Ableton Live and asked Ableton Support about an SDK, they sent me here and this sounds interesting, but the LiveAPI Site seems to be down?
Anyone knows what's up?
Thank you!
