then it has to be double offensive to be accussed of not being a real dj, which isn't a real musician. what is he, then..
"A DJ who thinks he's a musician is like a milkman who thinks he's a cow."

don't you dj yourself? i mean, using live, turning some knobs...

yeah, love that video.
and btw, no, i'm not considering me dj anymore. i'm still mixing tracks, too. but i do it in a completely different way than when i "was djing". so i'm not a "real DJ anymore".
oh, and i don't have an A at the end of my name. it's an E. (but no one gets that right

has noting to do with the english word man or men)

indeed. one of the main reasons for me for moving to traktor was exactly this: buying 70 tracks online on beatport + traktor cost the same as buying the tracks in vinyl. after that, there's only gain...

I watched the video. Very educational - "That big trippy shit". I always wondered what the technical term was for that sound

Regardless of your opinion in this thread, If you don't learn to beat match, you are depriving yourself of a valuable skill that transcends "DJ'ing". It trains your ear in understanding and capturing rhythm in a way you probably will never obtain without.

+1 to both
in short: if you don't learn, you failed to gain

best is to just learn it all, or as much as you have time for. at least know what it means. no need to be the best at it. just getting a feel for it. and then you can consider to use it if it suits you.
