 no. which is why i'm so bitter :P

nah i have a blackberry that work pays for. 3, 4, 5, 6 years ago i pulled that bitch (or one like it) out of my pocket and people would swoon and ask about it. now they all have iPhones or something similar. which is good cuz i got tired of the fukin questions.

i just asked my boss lady when my contract is up... so, in December i'll be getting a Samsung or an Apple phone... we'll see what September really brings to the table. i'm looking at you Steve.

Okay. MOTHERFUCKER. I've got an external drive that I use just with my MacBook (FAT32). Woke up this morning and the MacBook won't register and there's a message saying it was improperly disconnected.

It works fine on my HP with Win7.

The MacBook refuses to recognize it in Finder, but the Disk Utility sees it....

Not iPad related but...

Doh. I did a repair/scan on the HP, then just reattached to the MacBook and now it's there.

:x

Long story short: Win7 fixed it where the MacBook was utterly lost.

FUCK YOU STEVE.

This kind of FAIR AND BALANCED reporting is what keeps this thread alive.

…and something I will probably have to remove myself from if I get a job at Apple. :x

CAN. NOT. WAIT.

This is the one case in which hardware does save the day.

Let's discuss the current state of Flash.

It's extremely rare these days that I come across a web page on an idevice that I can't stream the embedded video. When I do it's usually an obscure site that looks like it is a holdover from geocities. I have to admit even I am surprised at how quickly many sites are falling in line with Jobs'"Fuck Flash" declaration.

And now even Google has released a product for developers that will convert Flash to HTML5.

I'm really wondering what Adobe is thinking about this.

I was just contemplating this very subject not too long ago.

You are absolutely correct in your assessment of the transition to Flash alternatives. This isn't so much a switch FROM Flash, as it is providing an alternative. Many sites will now have a Flash piece - then a similar 'dumbed down' scene comprised of either HTML5 or modified Flash via Adobe AIR.

Adobe has also done something very smart in all of this: For the entire CS5 suite they've added a ton of new build software like Flash Builder which will take anything created in Flash and allow conversion to iOS devices, Android, Blackberry, etc. These tools take the animation and whatnot from Flash and rework the coding behind the scenes so that you keep the animation and other bits. The final conversion is then processed with a new version of Adobe AIR that gets it all running.

Where this falls apart, however, is in the actual conversion process. Your head would SPIN if you saw the amount of hand coding that has to be done with Flash Builder in order to get Flash to work. It's fucking MIND NUMBING and not for the faint of heart.
