THEY'RE INCLUDING JITTER IN M4L?!?!?!

This is gonna be huge. HUGE!

Fuck I wish I had the time to learn max/msp/jitter all at once and still make music (and , you know, keep up with my degree and find money). Man I've been dreaming of this shit for years!

There some things in the one that I have been waiting for and asking for since version 4. Thank GOODNESS.

Groove quantize is a big one for me. Cross-fade on a single track ABOUT TIME and THANK YOU! That makes it worth it for me.

Thanks Ableton for listening. It is obvious that you have been listening to what people are asking for. It seems that live seven was about Instruments and trying to settle basic and very tired argument that live sounded like crap. So now you have been able to focus on the basic internal features that so many of us have been longing for.

If max 5/msp is $500, I can't see max for live being much cheaper, unless it's severely crippled, which apparently it's not.

It is not crippled, but only usable in Live

I'm pretty sure that about half of the NI Reaktor customers have never built anything more than a gain control. The Live user-library won't be huge immediately, but give it a year or two and I guarantee there will be something there for everyone.

Reaktor is Reaktor. My worry is that Live will become 2 apps and to benefit from all the work done by Bjorn et al, I have to pay for MFL of course. While in the meantime, the main app, Live itself won't be given so much love and development.

I know what I wanna say, too late here to think straight and gotta work Saturday morning. Sucks.

What he says is that you don't have to be a programmer to make use of MFL. I think you'll still have to buy it to use other people's patches.

This is what I took away from the video as well. Really wondering what the pricing is going to end up at for MFL.

You can use it in demo mode to check it out but to run patches you need to get it. That's the marketing model, and that's fair enough, and I'm hoping they are aiming for mass sales -->> low price. Once you have it even if you don't want to program it's free plug-ins forever that are totally integrated into the interface. Pretty neat!

I hope so too. Not too many people are going to pay out big money just to get an LFO or whatever. Somehow though, I just can't see MFL being cheap, or even what many would consider reasonably priced. And I think that when it's announced that MFL is considerably more expensive than many are anticipating, those replies to minor feature requests that are being met with "you can do that with MFL" aren't going to be accepted so easily.

I hope I'm wrong because it looks great.

I reckon it'll be cool, they're pretty smart and they have started doing coupons and bundles and discounts and get Operator free. I've got a feeling that if you upgrade and have/get the suite and Max they'll have a tempting package price.

enjoy the kool-aid...150 euro for crossfades, folders, groove templates and stuff that is available as freeware?

i just hope MFL won't be that expensive...

Can't speak for BCF but don't feel bad about the BCR being "spare" soon.
As you'll see in (little) time, having a BCR is never futile, at least not for long periods of time.
It is so infinitely configurable and will bail u out everytime another controller lets u down.
Big as it is in my intentionally minimal-as-possible studio, I would no more be without my BCR than I would be without spare cables or a clone of my hard drive.

OK, here's the "definitive answer":

Users cannot use Max Devices without installing Max, obviously. Once Max is installed, they can use them, but they have to put Live into demo mode, if they don't own Max for Live.

So maybe this is not exactly what you were hoping for, but you can probably understand why it is going to work this way.

It *is* true, you'll be able to run jitter patches inside Live now.

I am really stoked about this, because all the bigger sequencing things I've done this past year have revolved around Jitter matrices - not video by a long shot, just multi-dimensional data storage.
