if you're interested by controlling the clip matrix (and much more) with a monome, we're doing it since several month :
http://code.google.com/p/monome-pages/

but monome is monochromatic so, we did some rgb monome clone:
- thanks to Brad: http://unsped.blogspot.com/
- thanks to (me): http://www.julienbayle.net/diy/LiveInterface/

so.. I'll probably sell my monome in several month.
I'll post it as I'll decide to do it :)

the alternative im working on, soon multitouch screens!!
built with the great modular usine: http://www.sensomusic.com

5x8 clip matrix with scroller up to 800 clip launch
cells blinks to incoming midi notes
Ab crossfader
mute solo (that grey the other tracks)
stop play per track
HSL color selector,
mini live vue on top via screen capture .jpg
fader to dispklay clip position/cycle led.
a tab pannel to show modular custom fx
and of course total feedback from live...

just hoping live 8 willl allow me a bit more like "wich cell has a clip" or clip colors and names, would hope it can be send natively, otherwise will have to go for max i guess...I soo prefer usine ..
PLEASE ABES SEND MORE NATIVELY VIA MIDI OPTIONS!

You let me know when this is ready!
Will it use MIDI over LAN to support using a separate tablet?

It will not be a standalone app, it's linked to usine,
but you can send to whatever you want with usine, midi, midi over lan, OSC, you can tweak the patch to match your needz.
take a usb stick, put usine on it, no install needed, and it's ready to run on any tablet/touchscreen!, if you install midioverlan you can easy have an ext remote even in wifi if you want. hope it should be finished next week, will post a topic with a link for dl it.

PLEASE make a portable resonable prised matrix grix for clip triggering!
!?
If you own the LV-2, then you know the faderfox LX-2, too, don't you? Why don't you use that for triggering clips?

what kind of power supply will the apc40 have, lump-in-the-line, wallwart, or built in?
