Thanks for mentioning the name, I just found it, had a look- amazing. That is what I hope for SCS3m, someone smart who can turn duck into swan. SCS3 hardware has great potential but obviously Stanton has no software developers, I am afraid the product will die unless someone else develops the "brains" for it. Good to know that there is this nanoAlternative.
it's crazy hey?
there is a fairly dull product and a guy comes along (really don't believe the companies are not capable..!?) and turns it into pure gold.
if you go along the Myralfur MYR script thread you will find an alternative version... the SUB version

(thanks again to Myralfur for tuning it)
worth a try which one suits your needs better...
and in conjunction with the editor you can maximize it even further...
i can now control 32 tracks automatically or choose to have one scene for device control, etc...
i customized myself 4 versions for different needs...

Is it possible with the Launchpad to use it as a 2 * 4 X 8 Matrix, instead of the normal 1 * 8 X 8 Matrix? Meaning we would split the whole Launchpad 2D button space horizontally into two parts and use those parts separately, the upper part controlling tracks 1..8 and the lower parts controlling tracks 9..16, each supporting then only 4 scenes, rather than 8 scenes. Then switching this setup to a next bank where you would get another 16 tracks of control each again with 4 scenes.
Does Launchpad offer this flexibility? If not, why not?

How is the bi-directional connection in Launchpad working exactly? Here is an example question:
Imagine you have built up a Session-View-Matrix with a fixed size of 256 X 256, then you click in Live with the mouse on any grid/slot, e.g. the slot location 200 X 200. Will the red Launchpad rectangle in Live move then automatically there, too and thus showing me exactly at that point the closest 8 X 8 Matrix subsection in Lauchpad?

You have to scroll down manually. If you hold the session button down, you get a vertical scrollbar of sorts which allows you to jump to specific scenes in increments of 8.

One thing is of note... Will they ship the launchpad with Automap Pro? If not it would be a cheek!

I don't know another manufacturer who punish their customers with a fee rquired update to use more than one product of of their product line simultaneously! I already own the Zero SL mk1, the Remote SL Compact and I would like to use my Nocturn in conjunction with launchpad...
BTW: Wow, there is a very huge interest in this topic I think launchpad will go like hot cakes. 179€ + 79€ for Nocturn... I guess 258€... Who needs the expensive and bulky apc? And I think all things will be possible with MAX4Live...

Hmm, not good news, for me "real bi-directional connection" would be if you would click with the mouse in Live and this state change should be reflected also with the red rectangle and thus also on the hardware, e.g. the Launchpad. Or formulated in a more abstract way, the bi-directional connection should also work in "absolute mode" like direct changes (mouse click) rather than supporting only "relative mode" where you would have to scroll each time. It shows the weakness of the system design a little...
Too bad that music technology is developing so slow and we are more or less still in stone age. Still Live and Reaper are the best sequencers imo. Let's wait for the future.

Yeah, I don't like Novation's tactic with Automap Pro pricing. But I already have and love Nocturn so I would have to fork it over if I get the Launchpad. But if you already own the Zero SL mk1 and the Remote SL Compact, don't you already need to have Automap Pro to use them both at the same time?

What seems like a really useful feature on the Launchpad that I haven't seen on any other controller is in the Mixer mode where you can reset volume/pan/sends settings (per track or for all tracks) to default settings, not to mention disabling arm/mute/solo/stop (per track or for all tracks):

I wish that in the Ableton template, the 8 faders/mute/send buttons would dynamically shift to another group of 8 channels, not just the first 8.
For my use 1 button press to see next 8 is OK, what would be other "dynamically" option?
No, it is easy enough with the remote but, i don't know. I'm still keeping the remotezero, but I have to say, at home, when composing, I love using the apc so much more.
Don't know how it works on the mkII, but on template 40 of the original remote (zero) sl you can bank channels in groups of 8 using the up & down arrows next to the right lcd screen.
The live automap template has a few functions that are different to its usual setup.
The buttons on the far left (normally for choosing which row of controls is displayed) funktion as [from top to bottom]:
Lock controler to device
Scene up
Scene down
Play scene
Stop all clips
and the arrow buttons next to the left lcd display can bank up/down groups of 8 device parameters
Together with the mappable blue hand introduced in live 8 I actually find it pretty useable. The 8 knobs usually hardmapped to devices that I use alot more often (usually filters/phaseshifting effects) and the 16 buttons on the left mapped to diffferent devices which can then after just pushing 1 button be controlled using the encoders with the parameters displayed propperly on the lcd screens for live's own devices (ie. 3/16, 2.80ms, -3.6db, etc. instead of generic 0-127 midi CC's, which I havn't yet managed with automap universal)

i'd love to be able to toggle send from 0 to 100% and back, that would be perrrfect...

Unfortunately yes! But until now I mainly used the Remote SL Compact for studio sessions and the Remote Zero SL to perform live... Therefore I hardly came into situations where I had to use both units at the same time. But with Launchpad and Nocturn it will be another case...

btw: found this product description about launchpad (music store cologne):
...With "Launchpad" the controller specialist novation and the berlin software developer ableton introduce their first exciting hardware joint-venture...
Ahh...their
first exciting...

That's what they think about the apc 40.
