not generally true... you need to figure the acoustic axis of your speakers out (usually given in a spec sheet downloadable as pdf from the manufacturers site) and then place them in a way that the acoustic axis is forming an even triangle with your head in your main comfy "mix" sitting position...
(what you say depends therefor a bit on the 'even triangle' e.g. the distance of the listener from the speakers...)

also the acoustic axis should be in hight of your ears... and the acoustic axis, depending on the model/make is often rather away from the tweeter position...

very good general tips about speaker placement, not just for genelec users!

you can find on the genelec website. and obviously others...

I mean they will work either way, though those monitors are probably not designed to be placed horizontally anyway.

The imaging of the sound stage will be much wider with the tweeters out, however I guess depending on the room/space, it may not be feasible to consider it. I'd suggest at least trying it out regardless. See which works best for them.

fair enough... just wanted to point out that it does not have to be generally the best idea... (and i understood you mean it IS the better idea)
also you are correct, you need to be actually more careful to lay a speaker on the side that is not clearly designed for it.
this way you can cause "great acoustic damage" they are not all NS10's...

How are your AKD headphones too ? I read that those are meant to be top notch for monitoring - what do you think ? They look pretty buck rogers too ! :D

Its a Little Dot MKIII , an headphone amp, you need one of those to drive the cans.

The LP is cool sounding, but not as much fun as the Voyager really.

The AKG are awesome, for monitoring I would definitely recommend them, some of my friends beg to differ though... Not as phat sounding than a pair of hd650 for example, but for monitoring IMO, you don't really care about how Phat it sound, at the moment you have an accurate and precise reproduction of what you're doing.
If you consider buying a pair of K701, I highly recommend you to burn them for at least 500-600 hours...don't trust them in any shop, they really DO need this.

Thanks for the advice!
I put them this way by purpose though.
Has I said, no acoustic , as this is my living room...Girlfriend won't appreciate rockwool and foam on the walls...
The speakers being in a shitty position, it wouldn't have make any difference anyway.
Tried all possibility, and from my sweet spot, they seems to work better this way..
I work most of the time with my cans, can't really consider having some 'awesome' results with this pair of speakers, they are great, but they aren't PMC's. And PMC's (as good as they are) without room treatment, it's fair to say that's they're useless. (as any speakers) :(
itusuk: your house looks mega fun.
It is really, but recently didn't have much time for fun... :(

No, seriously, i already cleaned up all the stuff I wasn't using (gumtree's your friend!) and the Voyager will probably go on my will before I die!
