@ starving the iPad is the best, but you will be forced to upgrade or assed out by the shame of not having the latest version within 6 months to a year tops. enjoy that!

Re: iPad
iPad1 FTW. I came close to dropping the coin for the iPad2, but at this point it's going to have to be number3.
Of course, if 3 turns out to be nothing more than a smaller version I'm going to be

do compact flash card readers just pop up on the ipad as an external storage device?
I know there is no usb port on an ipad but there is an adapter cable available right?
reason I'm asking is because an mpc just pops up as an external drive on a computer and you can drag audiofiles back and forth and I need this functionality with the ipad.

Re: iPad
I keep nothing in the Cloud.
Okay, I've got a little FTP site to use for easily transfering my shit back and forth to my iDevices. But actually storing something?
Nay.

Re: iPad
well an mpc is not an idevice so is my previous scenario possible or what?
Re: iPad
honestly not a cloud fan here. i like to flip you chaps a little shit over Apple stuff but the difference between Apple stuff and the cloud is that Apple stuff is expensive but they're hardly ripping you off... the cloud... LOL. sure, let me pay you (whom i don't know from Adam) to keep files i consider very important.
oxymoron much?
cloud = mistake in the making. unless it's a corporate cloud on their own LAN.

damn you beats Grrrrrrr
your job is to facilitate not to assimilate!!!
now I see all these cats hookin up this or that to their ipads, all kinds of machines, are you telling me there is no ipad to usb adapter cable that would let me transfer some audifiles back and forth from an ipad to a flash drive or something?

Re: iPad
As far as I know, no. The cats are probably hooking thier iPad up to a MIDI connection. Apps that do sampling usually have a cloud based, wifi, or iTunes sync system for transferring audio files.starving student wrote:damn you beats Grrrrrrryour job is to facilitate not to assimilate!!!

And having a drive dangling off an iPad like a cancerous growth is retarded.

Re: iPad
Depending on the app it might have it's own proprietary method but I think there are also some methods that third party app developers can utilize, sorta like dropbox but specific to audio. I'm not that deep into it yet.starving student wrote:ok so what you're saying hopefully is that an ipad audio editor will let me wirelessly transfer audio back and forth between itunes on my macbook? if that's what you're saying it's not so bad maybe

Re: iPad
gotcha , I use dropbox for everything, I dunno I guess I'm not keen on giving up the immediacy for using shit like dropbox just to transfer files between machines but then again its somethin to get used to if that's what you gotta do.
oh well I'm that much closer.
