A bike thread....how did I resist so long.

One of my one-and-onlys. Found the frame in the trash (really truly, welcome to J-trash) and built it myself. Feeling a pinch small though and thinking about cheating on her.
More pics here.

That's a sweet looking bike.

And great find! I've heard stories of people finding frames in the trash or tossed out someplace else and always wish I had similar strokes of luck.

It's a flip-flop so has freewheel and fixed sides but I've never used the freewheel. Rarely use the brakes, but riding hard every day in the city they're a life-saver when a taxi cuts in front of you to a stop and pops the auto back door...not to say I haven't had my share of stupid bails though.

I have never really been into saddles yours is beautiful, of course, I lock my bike up outdoors often enough I don't think I can get one like that here in NYC :(

I don't know what I'd do if I wasn't able to bring the bike in. I'd be so stressed out, it'd be unbearable. I never really discussed this with my roommates. One of them has a bike that he keeps in our backyard tied up. At least that keeps it slightly safe from robbery... but not safe from the elements. When I got mine, I just brought it in, left it in the living room, and that was that.

I do take it into my room whenever we have a full house and need the space, but most of the time it sleeps in the living room.

Anyways the new rims are on since last night. I didn't have rim tape, so I was using electrical tape to do the job. Ended up going through 2 pairs of tubes... and had to end up buying actual rim tape and one more pair of tubes. Ended up paying more, just out of laziness and not wanting to head out to buy rim tape in the first place. Lesson learned. Still need to install the crankset. Sadly, I don't have the proper tools for this, so I'll probably have to take the bike to a local shop and have them do it. That'll probably be another 25 bucks.

velo plugs work, they cost a little more but they never move on you and they dont degrade

ive lost a tube or two because the bike got hot and the tape slid after a couple tight turns

also, the shops down here will let you borrow a couple tools if you leave something with them

Yeah I'd considered Velo plugs... ended up getting Velox tape cause that's what was readily available at the shop. Feels good and proper now. Definitely a much better job than the ghetto electrical tape job I'd done before

Anyhoo... wheels are on, cranks are on... we are ON!

Here's the bike now, in all of its dark, TRONified, black and teal glory

New cranks feel SO good btw.

I like the blue much better, looks really nice. Just got back from a 55 mile ride myself, freak warm Seattle weather and sun for Feb, great day. I'm tired.

Nice rides y'all! Seriously though, someone has to do up an Ableton green.black, Abe-font/graphic bike no? But keep it stealth and spiky too.

i would never want an ableton bike, no offense to the abes crew

i just would want a more stable bike, and having to email them the crash log would be insult to injury
