i only just discovered the 'Fixed Grid' option.
oarrr mahhhh goarrrd!

can't believe i've been going nuts all this time trying to figure where i am in the midi editor - you know, you zoom in on the notes you want to edit, and yet more grid lines pop up the further zoomed in you go..? not any more, OH N-N-NO!

just fix the grid at the resolution you want to edit in; zoom in a bit, no more lines are spawned! huzzah!

"Esc" key can be used to cancel a 'save preset' procedure (e.g. when you accidentally clicked on the 'save' button). I didn't know that before, and am glad it was mentioned in this thread:

Pillock!). If I then set my newly found MIDI input type option to MME, my terrible drumming on my cheap midi drum kit isn't quite as out of time as I thought it was! Poor latency + my poor drum coordination = no good for quantising!!!

I know I'm white, but I still thought I had better rhythm than that!

This thread's great! I'll have to read it once a week til I remember half of it though. I can use that forum shortcut from live now though! :)
Sweet, i never noticed that arrow either, I don't see MME though. Is this a new option? I'm using live 6.05 I just have the sync type: MTC or Midi Clock.

BTW, does anybody know how you can do a sync test to find your midi latency and calculate an accurate offset for the midi input similar to how you test the audio latency. Without a way to edit midi time code (btwbtw, why the hell would a sequencer not have this ability?) I can't think of how you would do it, but I'm sure one of you gurus know what up. I tried searching to see if its been covered, but, well, you know how that goes.

if you open Live's Lessons there is a Lesson there that will open a special Live file. It will guide you through the process.
I only found this crucial fact out earlier this year!

Help-> all lessons ... hardware setup I think.

if you record midi with record quantization using undo right after recording will remove the quantize
(handy for live midi looping)
pretty straight forward but never realized it till recently

Something so basic, but... I had no idea, that in order to to create feedback, you must enable the return sends!! (right click on the fader: enable 1/all)
I actually saw it on this dub delay in LIVE video: http://www.covops.org/
But if you look at it, look at "Vimeo" video, much better quality.

No. What I did was set a key (in my case the ` key up there under esc) to toggle the metronome in Key Map mode, then saved it to my default template (along with a grip of other keys mapped to various functions).
