"nah... we like the open forum. Someone found a crack, uses it for a while, needs help, realizes that the forum is a friendly place, realizes that Live is more than just a boring time-streching DJ replacement, and eventually buys the product. I mean, who has never used a crack of say Photoshop, or MSWord in his or her life? Who has never shared copyrighted music? If someone uses Live and comes across as arrogant prick and spams the forum with stupid requests or deliberately radiates a bad vibe, then I would rather not want to support that person. Even if he she bought the software...

if your one of the people who voted no why dont you go through your hard drives and delete all the stolen music you have on there or you do not have a problem with stolen music? Im sure at least 17 of you are guilty and are hypocrites.

i understand what RH said in the other thread, and that's his decision to make regarding a policy for his company. I, however, have never, do not, nor will I ever support cracks, stolen software, or music, unless the author specifically states in no uncertain terms that their product is free, and I don't own any stolen music, either. In fact, I have no problem with people being reported and going to jail and/or being fined for such activity. I respect the artists I listen to, and while I feel as though the major distributors and studios have ripped off both the consumers as well as the artists, I will always support the artists I love, and will go out of my way to make sure that my purchase gets them the most money, which usually means buying directly from them at a show, online at their website, or through a site which sells high quality, artist-approved quality mp3's. Luckily for me, my tastes have wandered with age to an area of music where there is a lot of free product, and I'm happy for it, but I'd rather go without than steal and think that it's ok, or look my favorite artists in the eyes and try telling them how much I like their work and respect them.


The unfortunate thing about business in the community local to this planet we live on is that you have to accept some ratio of loss, which is unavoidable in any circumstances - Henke understands the issue, and if the ratio of customers to thieves is in his favor, it's better to not let it keep you up at night and focus on what makes this software worth buying.

I have 3 purchased licenses for Ableton Live.

And the only reason I bought them was because the staff at Ableton helped me even though they knew I was using cracked software. The same thing happened with propellerheads Reason. I am now a dedicated 'life'r' with continued legitimate purchases of both companies.

My first Daw (10+ years ago) was Cubase, purchased legitimately, And I got the shittiest support from them.

Back to Assholes, There are Quite a few of them here on this forum and it almost made me feel like I didn't want anything to do with this whole Live community! luckily the majority is of beautiful people. Yes, some people O.D. on stupid questions that are answered multiple times throughout the manual that also came with their cracked copy. But a lot of you guys need to realize, when people feel welcomed, they will eventually also feel more inclined to support and BE part of the family.

They would be hypocrites if they were asking for support on those illegal goods.

Old thread but it seems things have changed. I am not cracking Ableton, merely checking out the demo. I've already purchased Live 11 + Push 2 as a packaged but my retailer can't deliver the product until mid-August because they are currently out of stock.

I posted two reproducible issues on ableton.centercode.com and was told by a mod that that platform is only for beta version bug reports. I explained to the mod I didn't have a license and so the website didn't allow me t o contact support and asked them to report the bug on my behalf, to which he replied: "This seems like the perfect moment to sort out your license.", then closes the thread. Wow, great support! Instead of being helpful to the whole Live user community by reporting the bug on my behalf, they'd rather post a useless sarcastic reply and allow the bug to continue to exist. I'm impressed.

Just wondering, once money has changed hands and I've registered my copy of Live, does support get any better? I've paid several hundred Euro, haven't even received the product yet and I'm already having some serious second thoughts. I still have 3 months to cancel my order.

I'm going to give Ableton the benefit of the doubt by assuming the mod who replied is taking his own personal frustrations out on people who are just trying to help:

Cool I'll email them directly. The moderator on Centercode could have given me that email address there just like you did though, anyway...

As for how I got invited to Centercode, I can't remember the exact details but I think I had to apply for it, then I got an email after a few days saying I was in and the rest is history. However, I've never been able to actually test any of the beta releases becasue I don't have a license. That said, I have been able to submit FRs on Centercode, some of which have been noticed by other users, which is good.

Obviously, do what you have to do but, if possible at all, please don't revoke my Centercode membership because very soon I'll have a full Live 11 Suite license and I'd like to contribute.
