Nearly all the reasons people quote for not using a PC are just misinformation.
Its not that they "Just don't work", its that they "only work sometimes". Hell, OSX runs better on my PC than XP ever did.

Jeez no matter where you go there is always this argument. I recently bought a new computer and deliberated about it for a long time. What was better for me personally and what I personally need a computer to do I have a lot of software that won't work for mac. I would up spending a shit ton of money and I really don't regret it. The system is fast, stable and has a good warranty. Albeit gigantic and gawdy as hell. I being the dork that I am bought another super small system to take back and forth to work. I love both of them they are both pc laptops.
Macs have some cool features
PC's have some cool features
It's a matter of what you are comfortable with and what suits you. People are always surprised that I use a pc when they find out what I do for some reason.
Get what u want!

Marketing is a wonderful thing. A lot of people still think that all pre-press and design stuff is still done on Macs, like it was in the 80s.

Another solution is to build your own.

I see that you look at a regular PCs, so why not???? Can you connect a few wires?
It is sooooooo easy and you get to pick the BEST components. Then get home edition of windows XP SP-2 and you're rock'n'rolling, probably for 1/2 price...

+1, and you have full control on the components, no need for compromises

and you'll know who is to blame if there is a bug somewhere
just take some time to upgrade your hardware compatibility knowledge on forums, find the best prices and let's go!

join the club when you can, you won't be disappointed!
GAFBJ is another one, more or less difficult, that can put the stress away for some times when the 2 others are too hard to reach
good luck!
