I wonder if the ad team did it on purpose: can't help thinking that it's an odd mistake not to notice that a tiny bit of the leaf is sticking out from underneath the sticker.

If I were a moderator on this forum, I would ban you for life for posting that link.
My ears are still bleeding.

Bahaha! I thought the funniest thing was that they tried to hide the Apple logo on her MBP with a ghey purple flower sticker

Nice work MS, could have used a Dell or something

As for the software... Anyone wanna buy a used copy of Live 7? Can see I won't be needing it any more for my music needs...

....seriously though, if it exports MIDI files it could potentially be useful

OK the add is dreadful and the "music" coming out of the thing is dreadful as well. But I can see what they are trying to do and from a music software technology point of view I think this is the first product of it's type.
It actually listens to what you sing and follows it in real time. As far as I know this is ground breaking technology. Unless you know of something else that does that. This seems like an entirely new technology in it's infancy to me. The application of AI technology to create a computerised accompanist.
OK you can go back to taking the piss now.
I don't think it does it in realtime. The person has to sing to the drumbeat and chose the 'style' so it just analyses the melody then works out the key and whacks in a few chords in that key in the rhythm of the style chosen. Autotune has been analysing things like that for years. Prob only works on major keys based on the input root. Fun for kids, moms and pops but it doesn't go any further really.

Didn't even notice the leaf, it was obviously a Macbook Pro anyway no matter how many stickers they stuck on it.

That is probably one possible appilication,
If they can make it change the cutoff, resonance and filter envelopes to taste it would probably make the best tarnce ever.

That has to be one of the worst ads ever, the result of geeks trying to do cool and totally misunderstanding the concept. You'd have thought with all their money Microsoft could hire some cool people to put them straight.
The software does look pretty good though. Anything that is simple to use and gets people who aren't musical making songs and singing can only be a good thing. Don't bash it just because its Microsoft.[/code]
