Since when has more work been a good thing? Not an option for me. I don't need or want more clutter in my browser. I need fixes to issues. Ableton completely missed any of mine on the last release. The stuff they did come out with have been less than helpful.

yeah, ultimately L7 wasn't so hot. sidechaining can be found elsewhere, 64 bit summing is bullshit, drum racks are so-so (YMMV), Spectrum can be found elsewhere etc.

Live 7 was actually a revelation for me.

It moved Live away from being a cool little toy to being my main sequencer, at least for composition and arrangement. Albeit, I have a lot of great 3rd party plugins, so don't use many of Live's internal FX.

Live 8 - The sensible thing to do is wait and see what it's going to bring as to whether it will be worth updating it, And will the CPU hit be manageable, because my ageing computer is creaking under the load of L7 already. And if I have to replace that, then Live 8 may have to wait a while.

Voted hopeless fanboy. I remember somebody posting the sales figures and yearly income for Ableton, and it wasn't that impressive for a a 60 person company. It's in my best interest to feed them every year or so.

Honestly for what I do with Live, v5 would have been fine, and like others, most of my requests are workflow enhancements, not necessarily new features, but ways of cutting down the steps from point A to B. I'll do the same thing as last time though, wait until all of you stop complaining about bugs in v8 and then buy. Well, now that crash is gone anyway.

I feel the same way for the most part. But I'll still upgrade, cuz I need all the "excitement" I can get these days...

I expect it will have new things which surprise me, as well as still lack things which I feel should be there.

I'll buy it ONLY if they officially support feedback & controls features as we already do it with python LiveAPI scripts.

We're still Novations's bitches when it comes to supporting a controller type that they didn't make.

Thats the scary bit. Still 2 days left for Novation to announce a new controller with 25 knobs and 8 keys.

+1. For me, Live 8 shall bring improvements for sampler and better midi features. And all the user stuff that other people want...
