actually, if we could have Live report a ton of sensible stuff in an organized manner (and faster than the LiveAPI) then I'm all over it :) I can hack together a midi-to-OSC patch in a few hours that'll work for me. The main thing is giving us access to the juicy bits in Live, and it looks like the times they are a-changing now.

hell yeah!

I hope full OSC controll over Live. Built my own interface and synth editors/controllers in Max for Live.

i think the new things will be much simpler and disappointing:

Live will be able to directely integrate modules made with MAX.
That's it. So it will be more attractive for Live users to buy MAX
and more attractive for MAX users to buy Live instead any other
DAW.

and that serato thing will just take Live another step away from
what it was made for (playing live) to another vinyl controlled
dj-software...

agree 100%

the protocol itself isnt of huge importance because we can always build converters, as you say its having access to previously restricted areas that im interested in.

haha, was gonna say that too! Every trade show there's two things:
1) People that are happy about things to come
2) People who love "what once was".

This is insane. Brilliant.

Between this and the APC controller (and who knows what else is to come?), most of us are going to be busy bunnys for the next ... year probably.

Even the people complaining about Max because they prefer other coding languages seem to miss the point...
You could very well write an app in your favorite IDE and language, find a suitable Max object and paste or execute code with that. Instead of going Python to Max, it could be the other way around. Or both..
Or build an OSC bridge and control Live from wacky shit like Quartz Composer, Lemurs, Chuck, Ipod, Android phones, Lego Robots and that mind control headband thingamajig...

If Superman can turn back time by flying around the earth counter-clockwise.. Couldn't we get nasa to cook up something that sends monolake in orbit fast enough to fast forward to summer namm?

well, i COULD be happy about things that COULD come.
but for these things ableton would not need any partnerships.
they would just need a forum search for
"feature request" & "session view"...

I'm totally with you there, man! This is, and has always been, my #1 request: automation recording in session view (I reckon that's what you're talking about, right?

Here's me hoping that somehow intercepting data with a max plugin would let me build it and share it at least.

Max for live will totally shut up the 'Feature Wishlist' forum

'I want a... , I wish I could....'

Now every answer will be 'go make it yourself!' :P

that really depends a lot on the level of control we get with this collaboration, man. It could end up being very little we have access to inside Live... :?

I feel SO sorry for the tech support guys who are going to have to handle this if they put the whole MAX environment in there... laawl

Seriously, the Cycling 74 support crew is the BEST in the world, bar NONE! Close second place is the Ableton cats, of course :D

I had an issue with some weird graphics shit happening with my rig (IIRC) and Andrew (P, I believe) called me up and talked me through the issues, like a 30 minute support call FROM them, it was awesome.
