Hi,

Sorry for posting without doing research. I wonder how Jitter's going to be used within Live. If it makes video processing in Live possible, then Live 8 with MFL will be THE most amazing piece of software ever. So great in fact, that other software producers may sue Ableton and Cycling for creating a monopoly, just like the Microsoft example :-)

Or send the commands over wireless or UDP to a computer dedicated for video processing.

how would that work with the license though?

that's something I've been wondering about... OSC. I guess you just open a UDPSEND object and the tiger is out of the cage. but OSC doesn't seem to be mentioned in any of the Ableton/C74/M4L propaganda.

it was mentioned that the APC sends fixed note data, that's over USB, no clue if it's wrapped in midi or what. I hope and pray to the baby jesus they didn't use some form of static automap.

what I'd REALLY love to do is get a whole new GUI for Live, just to kick my muse in the ass, something different, minimize the Live GUI and look at something different.

can I just pay you and Machinate a few hundred $$$ now or are the CovOps going to slowly take all my money?

Max doesn't exist without MSP and Jitter anymore (i.e you can't buy them separately at any price). This changed with Max 5.
Well according to the Cycling '74 online shop you can buy Max on its on, Max/MSP together without Jitter, all of them together and Jitter if you've already got Max/MSP.
Yeah you're right, it was just MSP that became permanently attached to Max. Sorry for the bad info.

MFL will send OSC for sure. If MFL can do anything that Max/MSP/Jitter can do, than OSC is definitely a part of it too.

not sure I follow.

computer 1 - Live 8 w/max4Live, create a udpsend command, pass parameters and video data into it.

computer 2 - max/msp/jitter or even Live 8 w/max4Live, create a udpreceive object, set up the port and address info, done.

I think... you're way more on the ball with this than I am.

I think if Ableton wishes to uphold the idea that you can only run one copy at a time, they should stop suggesting it to users as an option with mentioning the downsides and methods to do so.
Maybe Live 8 will come with PACE

It looks easy enough. Let me give this a shot:

To ensure only one copy of Live is used at the time, Live 8 will come with a dongle... That requires 2 firewire ports!

I know it's going to be cool, but I'm upgrading Live, and buying an APC already.

Anything over 149 and I will have to think long and hard about it.

I don't really fancy dropping a grand on my music hobby in the month of April alone.
