Depends a bit on what the price of M4L will be, but if Ableton doesn't want to
implement this simple feature, I suppose I'll bloody well have to do it myself:

A sort of version of Rewire. Basically Cycling 74 have Soundflower as a downloadable audio streaming between applications protocol, couple that with setting up MFL hopefully as a MIDI hub between, and you can 'rewire' between two hosts or any audio/midi application, thus allowing you to use say Logic, DP, Kore, Mainstage, etc. alongside Live synced, and with audio and MIDI streaming into Live.

Hopefully this can be worked out to open as 'presets', so you just open MFL preset for Kore, adjust settings in Kore and away you go.. You could easily use Logic instruments with Mainstage in Live, and Kore could run stand alone , thereby more than likely saving loading time between sets.

3rd, you're back! If I would have any spare time in the future I would spend it by sharing all my Max patches with you (all two of them). Hope you and your family are doing well!

I'd like to get the monome apps working in Live, just get it set up so I don't have to launch Live plus another external app to use the monome.

other than that I want to see what happens when you connect this to that and tie it to that thing over there and route it through the thing with a knob on it.

I already got a patch for that. I was going to incorporate it in my BCR application but that would shut it out from everybody else.
Once I released the latest version of the BCR app I'll see if I can get this out as a little application.
And although its ready for Max for Live, its probably best as an external app. Since you'll need to send MIDI to Live's remote input and that probably wont be easy if you cant use virtual midi within patches.

In regards to building a Rewire style audio/midi streaming MFL setup, is this even worth the effort do you think? As it stands you can do this with IAC and Soundflower etc. but it would be nice IMO to have something built into MFL that opened up in a set etc. Just not sure if it's really practical? For instance I'm sure you can set up Max as a device in OSX's AudioMIDI setup and access it with other apps, but can you do something similar with MFL?

i know there's a pre-built seq in there. but i want the lurching off center rhythms of a good ol fashioned analog style seq. now i can build it!

I think not. They said Max for Live doesn't include Audio/MIDI drivers for Max. Which means both audio and MIDI will only be coming in and out of Audio/MIDI tracks.

There are always workarounds though. You could use something like UDP to make your patch in Live communicate with an App. But then why not use the external app for storage.

That's too bad, I was hoping a MFL patch would negate the need to call up the IAC midi driver and set up Soundflower etc. not a deal breaker. In a way I should just set up Automator to do this anyway. Not sure if the script would translate to other macs though?

Its like the IAC driver, but faster and compatible with external computers or computers over the internet too.

First patch will be a port of a simple FM randomizer that I use with Max 5 ReWired into Live. Fun for just getting some material going to write parts over. Randomizes the carrier frequency, modulator frequency and modulator amplitude. Working on adding modulation index in there as well. And the best part is the method I've used to make the randomizers sync with Live won't be nearly as complex with M4L.
