Pickup mode will only work for the 1st scene change. After that, nothing. That's by design, according to Ableton. Apparently the APC will do limitless scene changes. It better, because that's a dealbreaker.

I bought a Nanokontrol yesterday, and it's working fine.

Someone know if it's possible to do something with the user-configuration.txt so the faders go only up to 0 db, and not up to +6 db, also in automap, and not only when assigning by hand?

i bought a korg nanokontrol. at first i had some problems with it, but after reinstalling the driver, it's ok.

but i got two issues with it, actually:
all faders and knobs seem to reach 127 only half way. above that there's no change of the value. anyone with a nanokontrol experienced this?
i entered 127 for the top/right value in it's editor app, but it reaches that value when knobs are at 12 o'clock and faders half way.
when the fader is only four cm or so, that's really short..

also, when i leave a fader untouched at some value (other than 0 and 127, it seems), it transmits a flickering value of ±2 or so. is this normal for cheap midi hardware?

The Korg NanoKontrol is a brilliant controller but Ableton badly need to fix takeover mode to allow us to use all 4 scenes without parameter jumps.

I use my Nanopad as a percussion controller and that's about it. I set up the first 3 scenes to reflect Battery's on-screen pads, and used Scene 4 for Live's Drum Rack pads. I enjoy it so far but even with the velocity curve tweaked it seems like I have to hit the thing pretty hard to get a sound out.

In the specs Korg claims that it uses less than 100mA of current so I guess this can be used with a USB Hub, even 2 of them. Am I correct?

I've got the nanoKONTROL and nanoKEY, and while the Kontrol is brilliant, the build quality of the KEY sucks hairy ones. I've had 2 keys pop off on me (uh-huh-huh), and luckily I've been able to stick them back on. I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than something you take to the kitchen table with you, or for traveling. I'm looking to go back to a proper keyboard, or maybe even just a padKontrol for everyday use.

If I lost or broke my nanoKONTROL, I would replace it in a heartbeat, but once I get my APC40, I doubt it'll leave my backpack.

Yeah, I hear you. Can't imagine using the nanoKey for anything but coffeehouse noodling. Played out with the other nanos quite a few times now, and never had a problem.

I'm still nervous about Bank changes with the APC. I've got 2 nanoKontrols and it's fantastic to just look down - without having to look at my screen - and see where all my levels are at. Because they didn't do LEDs on the APC faders, you're screwed. You HAVE to look at the screen in order to get a level read.

KNKs are so frickin badass. Love mine. Shame the scenes forget toggle buttons, but they still rock.

Even things like the editor. So straightforward. Real no-bullshit controllers.



I'll never sell mine. If anything, I'll probably end up buying more.

nonpad feels great, and its every bit as responsive as a PK.

so far i've had great luck with the nanokontrol. the faders are very expressive for instrument automation...

I love the kontrol and the key, but the pad sends out ghost midi signals from time to time, which is annoying.. And I dont really use it much.
