Everyone can complain about Bale's attitude in this clip (which is taken totally out context, tmz's specialty), but look at Stanley Kubrick, as an example: Durign the Shining, he yelled at Shelley Duval in every scene and harrassed Stephen King at all hours, randomly, just to fuck with him. He destroyed all leftover props and models from 2001 to stop anyone from making a decent sequel. He didn't talk to Malcom McDowell after Clockwork Orange for the rest of his life. He almost fired his first DP for moving the camera and changing the lens without telling him. He disowned Spartacus as a failure. He refused to let his works be released in full screen (4:3) ratio because that particular ratio compromised the scene composition in every one of his movies.
After all of that, he had industry greats lining up to kiss his ass until his dying day, and granted, I'm not putting Bale on Kubrick's level, but what I am saying is that when you look past the heated moments on set at the finished work, having actors who take their work that seriously is important, and if you think Bale is full of shit or isn't a great actor, watch equilibrium, then the Machinist, then Batman begins in that order, and tell me that someone who goes through that kind of weight change for their job doesn't take their job seriously or care about the finished product.
Also, anyone who thinks that Bale should be run out of the industry ought to look in the closet of the people who spread this shit and see how many skeletons they have...who doesn't have an occaisional flare-up when you look close enough. Oh, wait, I forgot, everyone who dishes criticism is perfect.

The point is, when you have power, when you stand over another, how you act at that point is your true character.

Sorry to be so touchy about this, but I'm a film student, and there is a lot of pressure behind acting, as well as a lot of repetition, something that would test the mood of anyone...the final product is what I keep my eye on, not on the small stuff like that kind of flare up. If Bale was that way to everyone all of the time, maybe it would bother me more, but personally, I like his movies and appreciate his work.
As far as the "true character" statement, I don't believe that for a minute...we have no context in which to place Bale's mood, for all we know, his dog was run over by a car that morning.
Actors do all kinds of weird shit to get into the part - Gary Oldman practices his accent in real life for every part, and rarely responds to his real name during the entire shooting process even when not being filmed, something he's done since his "Sid and Nancy" days.

Me thinks you must be Tone Deft...
You ask a question in another post about a synthesizer and get an intelligent answer yet you spend your afternoon debating Christian fucking Bale?
Do you want answers on musical gear or would you rather continue to discuss a spoiled overrated actor?
Boy do I hate "touchy" actor types.

Well I would feel the same exact way. No real director wants his widescreen work shown in pan and scan if he has any control over that kind of decision.

I wouldn't mind a pan-n-scan of Eyes Wide Shut.
