Re: The Automap 3 Mixer Control petition for Live 8
I just sent my Zero back; without the Live mixer, the PadKontrol/NanoLive is great for me as a guitarist. Live 8 makes it easy to assign the knobs to gain, bass, treble, etc. for each amp in Guitar Rig, and I can create an instrument rack for each, so I'm able to tweak the basics in Direct mode of NanoLive.
The user mode gives me control of most Ableton functions including tempo. If Ableton would only provide switches and multiple banks (within a single instrument) I would be a happy camper indeed, since I could then set up user banks of PadKontrol to control other effects .. GR3's reverbs, distortions, etc.....
I can see where synth players would really like Automap, but for me (as a guitarist tweaking VST effects/amp models) it is way overkill....
I may revisit the Nocturn, but I hate the form factor; it is too cute by half, and occupies way too much desk space for the number of controls...
Hey, if I could saw the Remote Zero in half.....

Re: The Automap 3 Mixer Control petition for Live 8
the novation remote sl zero mk2 has a dedicated "ABLETON MODE",made in collaboration with the Abes........maybe by using automap 3
Re: The Automap 3 Mixer Control petition for Live 8
I would love to be able to just stay in the Automap3 template, without having to change between them to get mixer control...
I'm fairly new to this controller (RemoteSL) and would love to be able to make it work intuitively.

Try using any of the Automapped plug ins while in the dedicated ABLETON MODE, You can't, the whole point of Automaping plug ins is lost once you switch to the ABLETON MODE dedicated Mackie emulation Automap. Automap 3 brings nothing to the table in regards to this.33tetragammon wrote:the novation remote sl zero mk2 has a dedicated "ABLETON MODE",made in collaboration with the Abes........maybe by using automap 3
Basically you missed the whole point of this thread, that Automap as it stands doesn't integrate with Live well. Especially compared to Cubase etc.
Re: The Automap 3 Mixer Control petition for Live 8
Coming from using Mackie control with Logic and Live, the whole Automap thing seems like a complete muck up. It should be called Manual-Multi-Maps.

OK I'll try to explain it to you, as I'm certain that you don't own a Remote SL or you would know about this:33tetragammon wrote:basically YOU missed that i mentioned the remote zero sl MK2:look on their website,it says Ableton mode.Machinesworking wrote:Try using any of the Automapped plug ins while in the dedicated ABLETON MODE, You can't, the whole point of Automaping plug ins is lost once you switch to the ABLETON MODE dedicated Mackie emulation Automap. Automap Universal is a template on the Remote SL (and works the same regardless of MK2 or not, this has been asked and responded to officially), what it does is save wrapped plug ins that it instantly recalls the mapped knobs and buttons of. With DAWs that are Automap Universal compliant, you also get Mackie control type functionality on the sliders and buttons to the right near the transport controls. Live is NOT Automap Universal compliant, therefore Live has it's own template on the Remote SL controllers. This template when selected does not map your wrapped plug ins in Live, it only does Mackie Control emulation! Regardless of Automap 3 or having the latest hardware!!
What people are talking about here is being able to use both the wrapped plug ins on the left controls and the Mackie control emulation on the right, in the same template like you can with Cubase. You're missing this, or not aware of Automap's limitations, I wish you were right, I would love to be schooled on this. Seeing as how the newest Remote SL's have only one LCD, making a single template slightly less useful, it's obvious to me that Novation aren't in any hurry to get this working, and Ableton are probably also dropping the ball here.
Re: The Automap 3 Mixer Control petition for Live 8
As I don't have Cubase or Nuendo, but do have Logic, LIVE, ProTools and Melodyne, the best integration I have seen is with ProTools 8. Works really really well.

to machinesworking:
well it shouldn't be a problem if you have a remote sl for mixer etc/and a nocturn for automap wrapped plugins(like i have in my setup)
but yes,i get the point of being able to to it all from ONE controller, llike you explained about Cubase.
so come on,Abes... make it happen!
take care,
and thank you for this explanation.didn't know about it using mackie control emulation
