+1 Nels Cline -- his new album COWARD is terrific.
That release had totally gone unnoticed by me. Just ordered it, thanks for the heads up.

Well, I gotta say that my rig is always changing, just about every gig or session it's different. But since I've been living in NYC I find that if I can carry the entire rig on the subway, I'm much better off. In the videos I posted above, I'm using a Strat, Adrenalinn, Korg Microkontrol and a MacBook Pro. The entire rig fits into a backpack guitar gig bag and the soft korg gig bag.

Signal flow is -
Gtr -> Adrenalinn -> 1/8" input to MacBook Pro
MBP 1/8" output to house mixer (if the mixer is out of reach i use a passive analog volume pedal in between)

I know "built-in" is a lo-fi approach. I have plenty of high quality gear at home and wire professional studios for a living, so I certainly am aware of the bottleneck I'm creating in the quality of my signal chain. I've actually CHOSEN to use the built-in IO on my macbook for most gigs because it's the lowest latency I can get. And it's less cabling, equipment and less time to setup/breakdown.

Software - I am running Ableton with a custom Reaktor Surround patch on the master channel. Using the surround version of reaktor allows you to have 6 independent inputs to the master channel. I do all of my stutter FX, looping, even mixing and crossfading from within the reaktor patch. Sometimes when I'm not using the Adrenalinn for guitar tone, I use any combination of NI Guitar Rig, Studio Devil (awesome tube emulation plug), or some the amp emulations that I've built for Ableton racks. At one point I was using a Nord G2 as the center of the rig, but I travel enough that I'd rather have as little hardware as possible. That's a start, lemme know if you have any other questions. and check this vid out, it's a few years older but has a little rig tour -

were you using the NMG2 as a synth, or as an FX Processor?
I know that David Torn was using one for a while.
I've pluged my guitar into it a couple of times, but i haven't figured out a way
to fit it into the work flow in that capacity yet.

I am very interested in this thread...

after a short feel out with live music I am slowly getting back at it, and experimental drone/soundscape-y music has been my choice du jour!

especially interested in connecting guitar + computer with some tape loops along the way!

Does anyone here have any info on fennesz live set up? I mean, I have seen some pics but would love to know hoe its all connected and running?

cheers

i don't know. I just remember his guitar run through a POD...
I saw him live 3 times. instense moments, though he has a weird way to end his shows (which I don't like, it's almost like "ok, enough for tonight, let's press stop"). But in a live context, his textures sounds awesome, really.
I DEEPLY recommand the "live in japan" from FENNESZ. it's a perfect mix between "Endless summer" and "Venice", my 2 favorite records of him. The encore is incredible (but, again, the end is messed).

oh, thank you very much !!
Basically, I had no linkage, but as you asked, I did one

http://rapidshare.com/files/203788846/B ... s.zip.html

(I also included 2 songs from -one of- my band, the guitars I play in it might be a bit "experimental" - also done the electro parts of the "tango"-song, but the "trailer" song only contains guitars - + drums and piano of course)

thank you very much for your interest
