one time neb said, "keep it in the family"

i'm down with that, and as soon as i have the spare cash i'm going to throw money at covops, nick, cosm/etc. I enjoy hearing about what they are doing and have learned a lot from them, and maybe they've read something of mine that didn't suck.

Anyway, don't be retard when you promo, but you need to do it if you want to make music your business.

on the topic of the warping site... i'm actually kinda torn. I'm a rock musician moving into the DJ world. i have ZERO songs warped. I know how to warp, but HOW COOL would it be to just have all that done for you? pretty cool imo, but self indulgent. I'll probably SLOWLY warp one track at a time over the years and then finally DJ out for the first time when i'm 85, ALL because you guys made fun of the site and i was too "legit" to use it.

I think you have to ask yourself what advertising is at all. Why are you here if not to discuss the products we use, and share our knowledge, have some fun fun, and post the stuff we've done? Is that alone advertising?

What nick posts in his .sig isn't very different from what I post in mine. Should someone click on it out of interest, so be it.

This whole concept of being violated by advertising is a bit bizarre to me, but I think that's because I think people ought to be stronger than that. They ought to not fall for blatant manipulation. On the flip side, one can choose to be manipulated in order to get whatever benefit the advertising provides. Maybe free shit? Maybe some entertainment? Maybe hot chicks? Whatever. I guess I'm of the camp where one can choose to ignore advertising if one wants. To be offended by it is to be too weak to ignore it.

Honestly!

Re the comments about advertising on here, where else are you going to advertise Ableton specific stuff that's going to have a wider base of potential customers than the Ableton Forum.

Re the comment about the warping service using Abletons logo etc. Of course they can, it links to the site. So it's good advertising for Ableton. If it was offensive in some way then I am sure it would be a different service, as it is it promotes live.

What is it about this board that provokes such curtain twitching / holier than thou attitudes in people, there's another topic going on about how people who use cracked software shoudl get the death penalty. I admit, I have't gone through it as I find the whole concept so morally abhorrent (the death penalty) and ridiculous that it should be applied to something (that by Abletons own admission can be a way for users to get into their software) that isn't even in the same league as crimes which some of the more uncivilised countries kill people for.

Basically I reckons that SORT YOUR SELF OUT FIRST BEFORE YOU CRITICISE OTHERS is a pretty good maxim (I know I might have just slightly counteracted this by the second paragraph of my post but meh, I felt it should be said). . .

It does seem ridiculous that anyone would use this service... but that said, I've read interviews with DJ's who have an assitant that warps material for them, records stuff from vinyl etc.

If I could I would have an assistant to do ALL of the dog work.

"Just give me more cowbell", *sits back and plays playstation* :)
