You're right. Might've been a v2 thing? I didn't actually get to use v1.5 a lot, as v2 was out as a download when I got the box.

Also, ?s??

See it like this: No one learns our language because it is so f****ng difficult that not only the dumb ones will fail... ;-)

Yes, might be right. I am glad I did not have to learn german at school like in some not-native-german-speaking countries.

What I wanted to say is no one learns just from such "you cannot speak that language" comments!!!
I put this in my signature, so people can just tell me how I say it correctly and everything is fine (for me). Anything else is not useful for anyone!

I know, Makro, I know...

(you've been much more polite than me - though my words were dressed in cute clothes of irony)

Here's a little study in English:

"A gnat is able to live one year."

"I've got Ableton Live 1 here."

Did v1 even have time-stretching?

I came on at v2....just beats mode IIRC.

It certainly had beats mode from day 1, don't remember if it had repitch.

Thats nice :-)
But isn't the Abes Live pronounced like "life", and the one with the gnat like in "living"?

I guess the thread title should be "What was Live 1 like?". Better?

And yet it's like nothing's changed - everything that was there is still there...

true dat. i think there's something deeply hypocritical about coming on a message board for german company and ragging on people's command of english.

i want robert henke's live. the should release it as live lite redux or something.

I still have Live 2 on an old Mac G4 in my studio. and recently i dived into some old stuff i made with it.
it's fun to look back once in a while, but actually I've enjoyed every upgrade and new edition, because now, as I'm playing around with Live 8 beta, i realise that Ableton fulfilled almost all of my wishes as a producer and live-musician.
back in the days i could use Live only next to hardware (MPC, synths) and/or other programs like Logic. and Live 2 definitely sounds 'old skool' (and lo-fi) compared to Live 7/8. There's something to that too, personally i'm really glad with the way Live has evolved!

cheers
