Re: The Not Enough Memory Issue

Post by S4racen » Sun Jun 07, 2009 9:55 pm

I've got an hour long set on the screen that i can now do nothing with, i can't save it, i can't export it....

So don;t go asking me to forward you a set to analyse it, the bugs been there from the first time you included looper, like a mug i shelled out as quickly as i could and i'm now paying the price....

When is this bug going to be fixed? Has anyone found a way of saving the set when it happens?

What a truly useless piece of software this is!

Cheers
D

Hi all,

Live uses more RAM per clip due to the new warping technology (transient markers, etc.).

We're currently investigating this in detail and we'll try to find a better solution.

Please send all other RAM related issues (plugins, looper,...) to support and we'll
do further investigations from there.

Best,
Michael

Hi,

hopefully you won't experience more problems with XP64.
Please note that we do not support 64 Bit systems at this point of time.

Yes, Looper uses the repitch warp mode.

I suggest to send all details (screenshots of the RAM usage, log.txt, zipped .als file, ...) to our support mail
and we'll investigate your problem from there.

Please have a look here what else we need:

Yeah,

I just went nutz with Live 7, 60tracks, so many vst's chopped up samples, and no problem, after saving, I can load my session again without the "not enough memory available. Please save your live set and quit" message.
4gig of ram
3.0gig core 2 cpu
xp32bit
Big sessions run fine with live 7

8 is really pissing me off! Everytime i save a big session i get the error message "not enough memory available. Please save your live setand quit" But Live 8 hasnt even opened the session! WTF
Not Happy.
i have lost 2 tracks, about 4 days of work..

:x

I've run into this a ton as well. Ableton suggests to avoid the .als size getting too large by consolidating clips, but the problem I have found is that consolidating changes the sound of the audio by shifting the clips back in time just slightly - enough to noticeably change the sound. It's really annoying because sets get large and deliver the not enough memory message, but we can't consolidate because it changes the sound. It's a lose lose situation that was never present in Live 6 or 7.

hmmm after a rapid test on a new machine : xp 64 + i7 920 / 6Go ram
i've a set with 25 loopers and 25 reverb (high quality)
+ 200 wave files (clips warpped in complex pro mode) + 2 Go of wave files in a sampler
+ 10 live instruments playing
in the task manager i reach 3.6 Go commit charge (memory)
and no "Not enough memory" msg
the Live cpu says 80% load but in the task manager i get 30%
....
the als file is around 500 Mo

Same problem here. My set has no clips at all. Just 8 loopers and half a dozen plugins. Like someone else mentioned earlier on this thread, the memory error appears to be related to looper(s) and midi map mode. I have 4GB of RAM, on a Macbook Pro, the activity monitor shows 800MB free. Live is using 1.34GB real memory, and 2.32GB virtual memory.

There'2 bugs here though. First is the memory error itself being incorrect. Secondly the fact that Live doesn't let you save the set is really poor. It says quit and save now, but when try this, the same error prevents this! I can not use Live until this is fixed :(

Thanks

Hi there,

If it does, send send the issue with all needed infos to support and we'll

@ chawchaw

What is your issue? What is your configuration? Which version of Live are you using?
