Yes but he is a genious. Production is awesome.
Listen to the reward is cheese.

Anyone who dreams to make a living doing what they love should be happy for Deadmau5. I think his music strikes a chord with a huge amount of listeners and I'm excited to see an advert for dance music on TV no matter who the artist is. It tells me dance music may, once again, be capturing a larger audience and that increases the chances for all of our music to be heard.
For that, I thank you DeadMau5!
'Okay- you may resume your hating.

Have you ever commented on a sport you don't play at a professional level? You ever stated an opinion about a singer without actually being at that level yourself? Of course you have, in which case...f**k right off dude. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, if you don't agree with it, go write about it on a blog or something but don't try telling people they can't comment because they haven't had as much success.jonnyfromspace wrote:stop talking shit about the mau5. Faxing Berlin is one of the best most tightly produced electro tracks I've ever heard.
He is talented .. fuck all the haters you come up with tracks that are as well produced and that are as catchy as him,
THEN talk.

boring? no
tight sounding? yea sure why not
outstanding? not at all
actually i listened to his whole album with faxing berlin on it and was quite underimpressed and confused at the hype. the album itself is pretty subpar as far as im concerned.
hes written some good tracks sure but hes definitely not as good as justice. and hes certainly no crossover like the chemical brothers were back around 2000
Well said! Like I said in an earlier post, album isn't that bad, but every track on there seems to repeat itself and should have really only been 4 minutes longs instead of the 6 or 7mins that they are.

Interesting how all these noobs crawl out from under a stone to suck on deadmau5's wiener. You probably are DM under an alias, or your cheque is in the post.
His success comes more from hype than talent, this is my opinion and is shared by plenty of others.
Being top of Beatport, Beatport, Schmeatport. Quite often being a #1 on any chart means your record is some sell out piece of crap, whether it's #1 on the vinyl chart, #1 on Billboard hot 100 or #1 on beatport or Juno. He brings nothing new to the table, and quite honestly, I would purchase stuff that many people on this forum put up for FREE ahead of his stuff, because there is more creativity and originality in almost everything else people post here. Faxing Berlin, yeah, the oblique reference to Ableton makes him a hero, his next record ought to be called 'Texting Gerhardt, Bernd and Robert' and then we can all go f****** ape over it.
I know DM uses Live *among other things*, but that's not enough to qualify us to fanboy him when he calls DJs c###s and has the general demeanour of a tw*t.
Anything with half a decent beat will get people dancing on the dancefloor, you could literally choose tens of thousands of tracks to get that 'mad dancefloor rush' effect.
Anyway,
Call me a hater, I'm still doing the dude a favour, keeping these threads alive keeps him current and no such thing as bad publicity, so I slapped myself for adding to the hype. I'm now going to put myself to bed early without supper and learn not to get involved in this crap

@leeds
dude, as nice a guy as you seem in other aspects, particularly in your choice of football team, your regulation 5 anti-deadmau5 posts in every dm thread is kind of obsessive, no? I agree with you, time to let it go, move on...
Anyway, just wanted to say that although some of his tunes are a bit trance-tastic for my taste, love DM's production. And as for commercial success, totally sweet, who really wants to limit themselves to the underground? Music is music, if it appeals to loads of people, all the better. Let us not forget that Blue Monday was the biggest seller the year it was released, ahead of Karma Chameleon. Or something.

Dazzer - thanks for the compliment. Yeah, I am obsessive and recognize it, and the worst part is that even expressing a negative opinion is helping to keep this particular artist up in lights, so I am trying to avoid getting involved in future. But seriously, how many DM threads do we have on this forum ? How many other artists are getting this kind of exposure on here?
Anyhoo, I'll keep taking the pills and hopefully be a bit calmer in future

Anyone who makes music is cool in my book until I meet them in person and they prove themselves a c&^t.
I don't really have anything to add, I just hadn't posted in a Deadmau5 thread here yet...

Can Leedsquietmouse please confirm that he is not deadmau....my spidey senses are tingling with the fact he is from toronto as well
By the way shame about the playoffs, was going to go to the match but realised having a scuffle with some meatheads from millwall was probably not a great idea.

Re: Just seen a TV ADVERT for Deadmau5' album
Thanks Sven. Millwall fans are not as bad as people make out these days, they were brutal in the 1980s though, but I lived in New Cross for a while in the Millwall heartland as a student and never had any problems with them. There's always next year.
As for being DM5 - have you ever see the two of us at the same time,

Fact is, all the hate on boards contributes to make Deadmau5 wellknown.
The TV advert would be a smart move to reach those who are not on board or have no Internet connection.
But explain me what underground means these days.
As soon as you start to sell your music, you are commercial.

exactly......if your sucessfull you can't be underground....drako wrote: But explain me what underground means these days.

it really is complete bollox.....we're all underground until we produce something that loads of people get....
and then apparently we've sold out.......
