+ 1 Sweetwater.

Knowledgeable, low pressure staff. If they call you just tell them to stop. They will. The email updates are better anyway.

I've had good luck with zzounds and newegg also.

I've written some lyrics to describe your pain, and then joy.

It's called:

Casio's G-Pain

Why did you treat me like a twat?
You left me standing around like that
I just came in to buy a 'G'
But you didnt even notice me!

I took you from your mundane chat
To ask where the G is at
You told me one was up the lane
then pressured the sale and caused me pain

(chorus)

I'll never shop at Sam Ash no more
I'll just keep walking past their door
When you ask, I'd rather die
I get good service at Best Buy

I'll never shop at Sam Ash no more
I don't need to go there it makes me sore
I'd rather get stabbed right in the eye
I'm going to keep shopping at my Best Buy

(repeat to fade)

I've had this guy over there called David taking care of all my orders for the past 3 years and he's the man. Always calls me up for confirmation and updates on my orders and helps me out with any decisions ranging from simple stuff like saving a couple bucks on shipping to more complex stuff, like choosing this or that for whatever. Cool guy. Very helpful. He actually called me up the other day with some very good news regarding a certain pre-ordered item (cough*apc*cough).
funny, it's that same routine that makes me hate Sweetwater. I dropped a few thousand with them a few years ago, the same guy still keeps cold calling my cell phone. Chad Byer, please leave me the fuck alone, I don't need your help, don't want it, never asked for it.
I agree somewhat. The same guy calls me every so often to chit chat while I'm at work. It's good for customer service I guess and getting the feeling like you're getting personalized service but it still has that scripted feeling.

I once contacted my supposed rep through email letting them know I usually go with American Music Supply because one of their distribution warehouses is one state away and when I order something ground shipping I still get it the next day. Also AMS offers the 3 payments spread over 3 months with no credit check. They didn't repsond to that one...off the script I guess. No discussion to be had.

In Las Vegas, Guitar Center is better than Sam Ash. Though when I lived in NY, Sam Ash was the place to go just because they had many locations. The Guitar Center was in Northern Queens, far away from my house. I've been buying from Sweetwater mostly now, since I always get 1 year to pay it off, no interest, no tax and free shipping.

i don't understand why anyone would buy anything electronic that costs over $100 from GC or any other big chain walk-in music store. it's probably been taken home and opened 3 times already. yeah, i know it's under warranty, but it makes it more likely to break the day the warranty is up. plus you pay sales tax.

the real dilemma is when purchasing an instrument. you can get much better prices online, but buying a guitar you haven't even played - don't think so. some places let you return them, but that is a pretty painful way to be trying out guitars (one at a time by mail). yet, if you do walk into GC or SamAsh or wherever, they treat the guitars like shit so you wouldn't even want any of them - already scratched up. yet they've put every other local music store out of business. thanks for that.

they will match any online prices. Plus they will give another percentage off.

Are there any walk-in stores that also won't charge you tax to exactly match the online price? That's a huge plus for buying online.
