(Windows) Live 8 Zoom Display Hotkeys! (fixed again)
Re: (Windows) Live 8 Zoom Display Hotkeys! (fixed again)
Hi,
i am running 4 x 24 inch lcds in my studio and i am able t to stretch live right across all 4 of them if i need so that i can view some of our longer track count projects in their entirity. There is obviously a join between the screens but it actually works fantastically well. 3 of the screens are high end samsungs and the 4th is Dell HD. We use 4 screens because :
We want to work quickly and easily and with this setup it cuts down a lot of thinking and mouse works and keeps the music and engineering processes receiving the best of our intentions.
Screen 1 and 2: We generally use these for live and vst and plugins
Screen 3 for other programs like melodyne or or perhaps reason and other vts plugins
Screen 4 is dedicated to mastering plugins and has its own midi controller with flying faders and rotary controllers that we can arrange and change the dynamics of the mix easily, quickly and intuitively.
Seems excessive written hear but - - it keeps everything clean and intuiative and quick which is important for so many reasons for us. I will post a picture in a couple of weeks to show you the benefits once i have finished going through some work.
I am already planning to swap these 24 inch monitors for 42- 50 inch lcds probably only 3 of though and in around 6 months time
My question :
When opening up projects that perhasp have 20 -30 vsts plugins and inst is there any way i can have them all open up on to the same the screens 1 -4 that i saved them on. At the moment when opening up a project the plugins are not doing this. I did have this working ( when i only had 2 monitors but cant recreate this. Anyone know of anything that would sort this out ? Hot keys ?
best
J

Re: (Windows) Live 8 Zoom Display Hotkeys! (fixed again)
I made a hotkeys thingy that would click on a ll the wrench icons of every track's VSTs so the GUIs would open, because Live closes them when a saved project is opened for the first time which is great because don't you love clicking on stuff with the mouse? Nice to get RSI!

The script misteriously stopped working though, it needs to be changed, and I haven't gotten round to it yet, there was 1 person other than myself who was interested at the time, so inspiration from a "this is much needed" point of view either. The script tests for a pixel in the wrench icon, it has a unique RGB value but something is amiss. Autohotkeys can test for a bitmap so it might be more reliable to test for the whole icon? dunno. The script is skin-specific as a result.

What are the chances of a fix DJ Synchro ?djsynchro wrote:I made a hotkeys thingy that would click on a ll the wrench icons of every track's VSTs so the GUIs would open, because Live closes them when a saved project is opened for the first time which is great because don't you love clicking on stuff with the mouse? Re: (Windows) Live 8 Zoom Display Hotkeys! (fixed again)
doesn't ctrl-alt-P open the plugin window..?

Re: (Windows) Live 8 Zoom Display Hotkeys! (fixed again)
It opens/closes but when you freshly load a set you need to manually click every wrench icon with the mouse this is TOTALLY AAAARGGGGHHHH
My script ONLY works if you have your VSTs dragged over to another screen (otherwise the opening windows could block stuff, mmm I might be able to program around that)
I'm going to have a look at it but the thing is everytime I program, circuitbend or build something as soon as it's done I forget everything about it, must be all the drugs I did or something, so if I fixed it will almost be like starting from scratch. I'm going to dig it out and have a look.

Weird as time passes the script does less and less. "I'll have a look at it" if I get it to work will post of course.

Just document things better as you get older, and you'll be fine.djsynchro wrote: as soon as it's done I forget everything about it, must be all the drugs I did or something, so if I fixed it will almost be like starting from scratch.
Re: (Windows) Live 8 Zoom Display Hotkeys! (fixed again)
I always do that anyway (also for who wants to take the code and use it/change it) a comment on every line of code, don't matter after I did it *poof*
