The idea is that other apps will create a virtual port that will feed into APC Buddy. APC buddy will then make the color changes and pass this on to the APC.
Your Live prefs would look something like:
Input: Bome's virtual port (or whatever)
Output: APC Buddy
I don't really have anything to test this with, so let me know if anyone gets this to work.
Will the APC buddy allow all other info to pass through to the APC untouched?

In practice, yeah, but there is a catch. CC and Sysex is passed through as usual, but all notes can be modified. This means that some of the other pads may have their velocity changed by the mappings. I think that it's something like velocity of 0 is off and velocity 1 through 128 are on. Whereas a velocity of 1 would be sent usually, this would be changed to velocity 6, for instance. The APC doesn't care as long as the velocity is in a certain range, but other apps may not like this.
The good news is that, as long as APC Buddy is the last tool to send the MIDI to the APC40 and the data isn't being sent anywhere else, this doesn't make a difference. Of course, if you have a situation where this won't work for you, you can tap into the original APC40 MIDI out. If there's some other situation I'm neglecting, I can make APC Buddy only modify the main clip pads, it's just an unnecessary step at the moment.

Hey Dstroud,
I upgraded my installation of OSX to Snow Leopard.
Don't think APC Buddy is functioning as it did before anymore...
In that the colors seem to stay orange or red (can't tell for sure which

.
There's a green flash on pre playing clips but they all default to orange / red

I'll check it out once I get a chance to install Snow Leopard- probably later this week. I have the disc but haven't had a chance to check it out.
Hopefully I have some time left on the Max demo.

My bad.
Was simply a case of P.I.C.N.I.C.
It's working now.
Thanks.

P.I.C.N.I.C. ?
Not familiar with that, but I'm guessing it's like an ID 10-T (ID10T) error?

Hi guys,
I've recently got my apc and have been struggling with the colours aswell. I can't seem to download the app to fix this either. When I copy the address, it just brings up a blank page in Safari.
Cheers

go to dstroud's link above and dl "APC Buddy Max Patcher.zip", then grab the max5 runtime from cycling74. you should be able to open the patch that way. if you want to turn it into a standalone app you should be able to do so with the max trial. If you have trouble and dstroud is cool with it, i can try creating it on one of my windows virtual machines.
Best of luck.

kaioconnell ,
would this be something you would try? As I do not think I'd have any idea on how that is is to work.
It would be the conly PC solution for the color blind that I know of.
