We were trying to figure out glitches in audio on my friend's computer and the result was that the glitches only occurred at her apartment. We tried to disable the wireless router and all the possible stuff and finally came to the conclusion that it's the electricity in her apartment. It wasn't grounded, so it was probably the only possible cause for this...
On the other hand, I lived there too and I didn't have any problems with my macbook pro, she had some PC laptop and a cheaper USB audio card.
Anyway. Check your electricity on stage, maybe it's somehow related to that?

dont'k know if help but i had lot's of glitchs and drpouts using mbp with bootcamp.
if you're using bootcamp, on perf you need to disable bluetooth, wifi, and kill a running pgm from apple called"kbrdmngr.exe"
that creates DCP spikes, there are tools over the net to check dcp spikes and can clearly see this one is faultly. however if you see the disk overload no need to search more,
a better external well fridged and isolated shoud do the job as mentioned. also you might know but by default laptops arn't running at full speed, you need to go to alim option and set to "full performance". one other thing is the mbp can become hot on stage and so will reduce CPU speed. I had much more better performances overtime using a laptop cooler, very efficient on mbp as the whole alu case absorb heat.
