i use the remote zero mk1 and the first thing i did when installing it was deleting the automap...

I have a Zero 1 (not 2) and I want it to NOT AUTOMAP on Ableton 8.

the think keeps "outsmarting me" and flipping it over to #40 "Ableton Live Automap"
(even though I never installed the program automap!)
while these features are cool,

I want to specify my own controller set (which I'm doing on the "control editor")
and have it NEVER CHANGE, so my hands learn where everything is.

Help / Suggestions?

The ableton template (40) is not the same as automap universal. Do you have the Remote SL set as a control surface in your Live preferences? If you only want to manually map things, then take it off control surface and just have midi in and out active for Port 1.

Hmmmm....I'm obviously in the minority here. I bought a MkII a couple on months ago now and think it's great! I don't find the 'feel' of anything about it as cheap, but instead an all round well-built, sturdy keyboard and controller. The way it simply jumps to each different parameter or plug-in in Live is outstanding. But there you go - each to their own!

I certainly like mine or would not have bought it. Got to try out at the music store first (good advice). It's just that I don't want controls that change functions, because I often operate them without looking at them in a live show. (audience likes eye contact

that's one of the many reasons why I like KORG electribes

The electribes are excellent. A friend of mine used to have the MX and SX which made up the totality of his live act! I nearly got one, but decided on a Maschine instead. Together with the Mk2, it has really changed how I make music.

I've tried both the Mk1 and the MK11 Zero Version- here in Singapore. Functionality wise both are same, except for motofized faders on MK11- it is really cool , feels light (not as in Mackie) but finishing is better. The overall MK11 unit is slimmer and lighter and the battery case is gone. MK1 is available for US$150 less (about US$250)so should definitely be on your list.

I used to have older novation remote and the pots and sliders were 'cheap', lots of 'jumping'.

Hey, you just need to make a new USER REMOTE SCRIPT and use that one for the 'control surface'. that way it won't switch to #40 AND you'll be able to have automapped macro's.

i'm looking at the mkii in the future.. does someone have more info on the quality of the drumpads?
