I'd like to think that i'm not an idiot (or you guys either)

in which case it would be nice to verify that this is buggy

as for how deep I see the midi, I see it all the way into the chain which contains the simpler. i have been changing them to samplers so that i can see the zone tab. indeed, I see the red line in the sampler zone.

But no sound...

@t:

definitely have heard complaints about the construction of the session drums racks - so regardless of whether this specific case is buggy, it is understandable to not want to go freestyle with the factory rack components

@jekblad

Ok, tried your rack and it works fine as you say, however when I try this with my rack here, still no sound.

WTF?

Correction, I can get it working with method 1 you posted above, but not with method 2. Weird. I have no idea how that's working, and it's imcredibly unintutive, but thanks for your help.

dang

I don't have some of the samples which are in the rack, so I've been dealing with that. or at least they are displayed as missing/offline

If I pull a sample on top of the existing multi-mode simpler, yes... I can get a sound.

If I convert the simpler to sampler, and bring in additional chains, I can't get a a sound

is this getting better or worse? ;)

longjohns: if your missing samples is that a problem from the begining? because i just used the same rack Tarekith sent out, don't think i added new samples. Just trying to narrow it down...

Tarekith: way bizzare that my rack works, but your's doesn't but DOES with one method but not the other.

Have you tried rebuilding the rack from "scratch" again just to see what's up?

I'm interested in organizing my session drums and such, i might tackle your original idea. What was the vision for that, widely usable or quite personal?

I made a whole duplicate of the session drums library to work with one PK scene. I imagine your going to need to come up with some presets to accomadate that thang next to your apc with the 3x3 grid too right?

k i'm watching the stylus vids and it's way cool. but i def don't understand how it's a replacement for drum racks...

do you not intend to play single samples?

You can play single samples with stylus RMX. There is a mode for loops and a mode for kits. The loop mode can either play slices across the keyboard or play a loop for every key. The kit mode plays a different drum hit/sample for every key. They are divided or up the 8 groups as kicks, snares, hats, toms etc. So sometimes one mixer channel will have more than one hits, like for toms.

It's still no replacement for drum racks though, but pretty darn easy to make complete drum tracks with. Of course it can't touch drum racks for using you're own samples or just dragging and dropping something you just recorded in your session.

I'm not really using it as a 1 to 1 replacement for Drum Racks. I was at first planning on using single samples and writing the beat myself, now I'm using the loops in RMX and mangling them in real time. Different way of working, but ultimately for what i'm trying to do I think it works better anyway.

We'll see though, last time I attempted a project this big I swapped DAWs three times and went through 4 different drum tools before I finished things. :)

You are not aloud to be confused over drum racks. Stop being confused, stop now.
