after all that talk, i spend since ages again a few hours playing around with mainstage... and wow, i forgot how good logic's stuff is.

any discussion about logic's plug-in quality stops for me right here... if you don't use them for a while and then go back, this is what happens ---> 8O

damn they are good.

the mixer section and the plugs want to make me go back to logic all together... but i love the session view and clips for writing!

that said, tracking and mixing large (real studio mic'ed) recorded projects i still prefer to do in logic by far.

writing electronic oomph tschik oomph tschik in Live.

Logic's instruments are anything but overrated. Underrated IMO. And so insanely low on CPU. I'm not crazy about exs24 because I don't love the interface, much prefer Kontakt. But the exs24 does have nice filters and saturation. The envelopes on all the Logic instruments are by far the snappiest I've ever heard. You can get attacks like on no other instruments.

The Mainstage improvements look pretty swell. I'm pretty impressed by the improvements in audio on this update. It feels like Logic has really caught up with Pro Tools in that respect, maybe even surpassed. But it's been since V6 of Pro Tools since I've used it so I wouldn't argue that too strongly.

Funny though that Logic was always the Midi King. Now I actually think of Live as being my tool of choice for midi composition and Logic being what I'd use for audio heavy stuff.

BTW some free impulse responses:

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/new-prod ... ticas.html

They come with Space Designer Presets (PSTs):
This folder contains Logic Space Designer Presets I've created for the freely Available Bricasti Impulses from Acousticas

Please put the PSTs into:

User/[Your User Name]/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/SpaceDesigner

and the IRs into:

Macitosh HD/Library/Application Support/Logic/Impulse Responses/Bricasti M7

You can put the IRs whereever you want; usually in Macitosh HD/Library/Audio/Impulse Responses, or User/[Your User Name]/Library/Audio/Impulse Responses.

SpaceDesigner will recognize them.
