Changing my order to Logic 9, no real need for it over 8 as Live can already do the interesting new features anyway, but at least I can piss off all the people I know who bum Logic 8 :D

Just looking at some of the nitty gritty features, looks like it does 32bit now as well :)

My guess is not. Logic/Apple are using what looks like two different approaches to pitch time stretching. As apposed to the singular warp marker approach, they seem to be going slicing (Apple Loops, which has the ability to preview) and the new Flex engine deal. Live I think will still win the instant preview in tempo award, but honestly I seem to always choose loops of things Live doesn't guess correctly on... my choices in crazy samples more than Live I think though. :?

The yellow arrow jobs are likely slice points. Different tool, no pitch time stuff, just straight Recycle style slicing. The Flex tool doesn't seem to have that kind of indicator line.

I dunno dude, I ripped that from GS where they said that's how the flex markers appear.

That's cool, I just watched the videos on Apples site, and the Recycle style slicing has yellow markers, but the Flex tool isn't showing them on the video?
That's all I'm going off of. I hope you're right really, as it's then likely Logic can auto preview loops at the right tempo.

The markers change color depending on how far you've stretched it I believe. As you get further from what Logic considers "good", the markers change to orange and then red to indicate audio quality may suffer. Logicprohelp.com has the most info on Logic 9 I've found so far...

Very cool, thanks for the info Tarekith. I'm gonna upgrade anyway, I really like Sculpture, just works for me, and Mainstage improvements make using it live a lot more possible.

Ohhh, you can also can drag in tracks from old projects now, which I love about Live. However, you can also say whether or not you want the audio/sends/inserts to come along with it, or all of the above. Hot.

the problem with logic is, that for the price tag it's still well worth it for the quality of the plugs alone... and to catch up with that will still take several years for Live... also, for a certain type of work, like serious audio editing for video, it's those small workflow / convinience things in logic, like a giant SMPTE display, or for tracking loads of tracks at the same time, etc. i well prefer logic, and for large mixdowns i prefer the way the mixer / Plugin section is designed, actually for everything but writing music, but this where i always have and still see them different, no matter how much they steal / copy or whatever from each other...

to me over the next few years Live will never be a grown up Studio Tool and Logic never a good music writing / creating / performing tool, they are different for different needs... that is why i don't understand Live for example trying to grow into a DAW / studio tracking tool. instead of enhancing it's purpose and STRENGTH: creating and performing music.

but i don't want to raise this discussion again... i do like both for different purposes.

logicprohelp.com is a very good forum as well, no fun at all but helpful and full of real depth knowledge.

Very cool. That is one of my fav features of Live.

However, any announcement after Max For Live and APC40 just seems dumb to me.

I mean, Max for Live. holy shit.
