Can anyone share this patch again?

The example above doesn't sound like the real thing, as I don't recall it having the velocity sensitivity on the brightness, so it is probably a sampled patch.

I have the DX100/27 'Solid Bass' (the same as Lately) on my old Yamaha SY77. I copied every parameter from a DX100 many years ago and it is identical.

So lately ('scuse the pun) I decided to do the same and transfer from SY77 to Operator. Chose the correct algorithm and worked out percentages of equivalent values etc and it sounded nothing like it.

I managed to make a decent bass with a flavour of the Solid/Lately Bass eventually, but it wouldn't fool anyone for the real thing.

Is it actually a multisample you're after, or has someone really nailed it with Operator in the past?

Thanks Dave, but link still doesn't work. Just brings up a load of code this end.

I'm starting to think this has not been done...

Synthesis Understatement Of The Day...

Nothing like it at all unfortunately.

No, it certainly doesn't look anything like it to me.

As I said earlier in this thread (2yrs ago!) I've got a TX81Z and have jotted down the Lately Bass
settings in the back. The parameters that are available in Operator don't match with the TX very well.

The TX algorithm is two operators (op3 & op4) feeding into op2, with op4 set to 100% feedback.

op2 then then feeds into op1. The osc waves are all sines, with op3 being 2x the others.

op3 is detuned -3. Output levels are 99, 74, 71, 79 (op1-4).

The LFO wave is a triangle. Speed 25, p mod depth 7.

There's a load of EG settings as well, which would be awkard to translate over because the TX uses 0-31 for example, and not milliseconds.

Here is a version I made using Voxengo Span and the original TX81Z:
http://bat-manson.com/share/Bass-Lately%20Bass.adg

The first sample is first the TX81Z then the Operator patch:
http://bat-manson.com/share/TX81Z%20Ope ... 0Other.aif

The second sample is in situ with an acid bassline:
http://bat-manson.com/share/TX81Z%20Ope ... 20SItu.aif

Of course it doesn't sound exactly the same, due to certain differences between the Operator and the TX81Z:
  • - aliasing in both synths don't work the same
    - envelopes are linear in the original machine, not in the operator
    - envelopes have only one decay time in Operator.
I think it is close. What's your opinion?
