I use both, they both have strengths for different situations.

As an entire pack, Logic is very impressive but Live has it's unique tricks you can utilise. I run both. For me I need both really. Depends on what work you're doing. Whether you need a linear or non linear workflow. For live use, def live. For serious production I'd lean towards Logic.

-comping and take management
-surround support
-handling of SysEx and other esoteric MIDI event types
-handling many tracks (i.e., CPU efficiency)

Out of all of those, it is the handling of high track counts that makes the biggest difference to me in practice. I actually very much prefer to mix in Live over Logic (I love the routing and automation in Live) but if it exhausts the CPU with 1/3 or 1/4 as many tracks as a comparable Logic session, then it's just not practical ...

is it not because of auto warp is on by default?

I just made the switch to Ableton, and it seems superior to Logic in every way except CPU efficiency. I don't know what the deal is, just make sure your computer can handle it. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

The Deal IS, version 8 sucks....version 7 was much better on CPU!!

Not half as good as Logic though. That's the main reason I use Logic for all my "big" jobs now.

Logic 9 apparently is more of a CPU pig, but when I was all strung out about this and my computer was slooow, I tested instances of Absynth in Live VS Logic, and it was Logic 10 to Live 7 instances at best something like 65% of what Logic could handle. This was Logic 7 and Live 5 though, so a lot has changed since then.

Also, Logic has always been CPU efficient, more so than the rest. Digital Performer 6 beat Logic 8 out in a test a guy at osxaudio.com ran though, by a long shot. DP is as it stands the virtual instrument host king.

Just got logic pro 9
I have live v 7.02
Clearly Live's workflow and ease of creation is not something anyone can touch at the moment.
But for mixdowns a lot of artists bounce the stems from ableton to Logic.
Also I was looking through the inbuilt library in Logic - esp the synth chord sections and some of the chords are so tailor made for deep house and downtempo that I wish and I really wish they were part of Ableton :)

I decided to make one.

Also because I am between this two...

just want to know what you think

Which one is best for electronic music production??
sequencing???
Live use??
Recording??
etc...
if you are new to DAW and making music, go ahead with Live. I was on the "same" situation few years ago. Tried cubase, tracktion, reason etc and it was pain even to make a simple drum loop. Once i opened live i never turned back. Everything is so quick and easy. After few months / years you may see that Live is missing something - especially in Midi, Automation etc. but i will better wait for new version that will solve it then to switch to Logic, Cubase or anything else.
And don´t forget that Live is actually only DAW with session view !

The more I use Logic - The more I miss Live's workflow.
Live is so intuitive-- Logic's workflow is difficult to grasp.
Pardon my slow headedness here but I have had logic for 2 days and I still cant find how to add individual FX to channels...
wHERE ARE all the FX?
Live is a lot lot better than Logic when it comes to working and creating and having fun.
