I know, there's always something that would make it more useful.
The one thing that would make the AKAI LPD8 better (other than aftertouch) is transpose up and down buttons that could be set to different amounts for each "program".
Why can't they just call programs scenes or banks like everyone else?
I'd love to have these buttons set to +8 and -8 for programs # 1,2 and 3 and +12 and -12 for #4, for example.
At the moment I have #1, #2 and #3 set to C1 to B2 so that covers 2 octaves
WITH the black keys over 3 "programs" which usually is enough for many drum racks.
Program #4 is set to C2 to C3
WITHOUT black keys so it's a full octave which isn't great for most drum racks and Battery etc. because it skips the sounds mapped to the black keys but it's much better for non-percussion instruments because it's a full octave.
