nah I pulled out of buying one when I read more into the details, and then saw the possibilties from Midibox stuff. The GREX website looked way too smooth, plus some complaints had just started to surface. In a way it is a shame, the guy had the drive to create just not the right business plan or approach I guess... Whether you like his mxf8 or not it may have been wiser to lay the cards on the table, say its a small company, development is still ongoing, and production will take time, etc. A smoother customer service, or better dialogue could have helped, but the "full on" slick website, followed by taking money, then silence has just led to a lot of bemused unhappy people...

I received an MXF8 in June of 2004 after making an initial payment back in January. Maybe there was a batch that were sold and shipped in the spring/summer before more problems arose? I'm not associated with any magazine or vendor, so at least at one time it was possible for regular people to get them.

Anyway - if folks are curious, I have the owner's manual and the start of a Speed User's Guide on my website.

I'm a fan of Mr. Campbell's designs. I still own a couple Notrons as well. He seems to have a good grasp of what is useful for realtime sound manipulation.

Is it perfect? No. Is it cool and useful? Yes. In fact, if anyone has an MXF8 with broken knobs, or no longer uses it, I'd be interested in picking up a second unit. If you're interested in getting yours repaired, email me and we can discuss some possible solutions. I've been inside both versions of the Notron and the MXF8 is orders of magnitude easier to work on.

Thanks for posting the manual. I'd been trying to grab it off their site for a long time since I'm a owner manual junkie. Good to do the research on things.
