Thanks to UKRuss too for originally highlighting this great programme -
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=126614 - was just blocked earlier (due to the BBC territory restrictions) - great to finally see it.

Well, the good stuff is heavily overshadowed by everything that is shit about Britain.
it's culturally bred-in though. Bill Bailey talked about it:

I was completely inspired. the punk bits about not worrying if you're good enough especially ring true to me. as I'm constantly second guessing if I'm good enough.

No it's not; in fact, I like it so much I'm going there for my next holiday.
The nicest thing about the British isle is the British people

Like everywhere, some of the heavily populated urban areas are run down and ghetto-ish, but even the worst of the UK doesn't compare to ghettos in the USA and even here in Canada, like downtown Eastside Vancouver and Jane and Finch and parts of Scarborough in Toronto (definately not a cool beach resort like the British equivalent

). There's something of a spirit within urban decay though, I lived in South Leeds and loved the grittiness of Beeston Hill, Holbeck, Belle Isle etc and I got on great with the people there.
There is still plenty to enjoy about Britain - I am starting to miss it more and more, it's now 9 years since I was back. I miss the moors and the beaches and visiting ancient towns such as York or Bath etc. I love Scotland's highlands and North Wales too. There's a lot of cool there. London is still a great place to visit so long as you have plenty of dough too.

Haven't been to many places outside the US, Vancouver, Belize, Berlin, and London/Cambridge.
London is the place that I would easily move to though.
Put it this way, Seattle has a lot of the same problems, too reserved, overcast more like 80% of the time, local government that sucks up only to the rich etc. but if I look at all the good things about Seattle objectively, it's probably the best place all around to live this side of Chicago.
It's when I think about the negatives that I lose track. London and Cambridge anyway were both really pretty dammed great places.

If as someone from the UK you don't get why Americans such as myself are so enamored of all things British. Ask yourselves this...I'm from Dallas, what do you imagine Dallas being like? I wonder how close the Dallas in your mind is to the reality of it.
When we don't live in a place we are typically only exposed to the cliche portrayed in the media. The UK has the best (or certainly one of) generic cliche of them all...you're either all punks dissatisfied w/the system or drinking in a pub having a laugh or rich royalty. Now the Dallas cliche...we're all cowboys playing football, or mullet headed rednecks who hate gays and ride horses and such.
The music and film you would associate w/Dallas versus the music you would associate w/Bristol or Manchester? I'll take the latter any day of the week.

There used to be a widget or script that had a "Download" option appear in the Info box. That was quite handy I thought.
It's a bookmarklet (javascript). As YouTube changed something, the bookmarklet changed:
Download YouTube Videos as MP4 Files
As bookmarks 1-9 (folders not counted) in safari bookmarksbar can be reached by cmd 1-9, give it a short name like 1getYT, place it as first & hit cmd-1...
& citizenchris099 thanks for the synth link & dentaku for the Krautrock thing!

yeah, i got that inspiration short before the video actually. not striving for perfection, just record anything that sounds somehow cool, make it into a clip, and if you trigger the right ones together, it will be a suprise for you and actually sound well.
doing that currently, sort of clip-brainstorming, creating all sort of ideas that can then melt together
and about the other quote out of the movie, part 9. 100% support, i love that quote
