Dave Smith Tetra - who has one? Thoughts?
Re: Dave Smith Tetra - who has one? Thoughts?
yeah .. I would've loved that.. but I guess that's the reason it's 500$ less than the MEK

Re: Dave Smith Tetra - who has one? Thoughts?
I think I'll try this mopho KB one day, it would surely be a great addition to the Tetra, that I already Love love love (just the multi mode combo edition impossibility that is annoying, but should be updated soon)
but it's still 5-600 euros for a one voice mono keyboard with, it seems, cheap pots and 2 octaves 1/2 kb... (when you see the mopho for 275 euros at dv247, that's around 350 euros you pay for this cheap plastic parts... christmas 2010 probably for me
)
cheers

Re: Dave Smith Tetra - who has one? Thoughts?
yep, I just wonder how one can access the 4 combo voices of the tetra from the mopho KB...
I bought the tetra for it's multimode feature, then having 4 distinct channels/voices for live shows in a compact box
so far multimode works well for playback, but editing separate voices is a bit tricky for now (have to set multimode OFF, then tweak the voice while muting the others when playing the keyboard, then saving voice, then re-enabling multimode...)
I'm now testing soundtower's editor, it works, but here too, need to disable multimode for editing individual bombo voices...
DSI!!!!
Please get the new OS done quick!!!
cheers

Well I've never played a dave smith synth but I can tell you the mopho and tetra sound sources in Trilian are some of my favs!
Professional Shark Jumper.
Re: Dave Smith Tetra - who has one? Thoughts?
my mopho kb was delivered yesterday.
what a wonderful synth. i already have the desktop version but with all the knobs right there to tweak this thing really comes alive.
the build quality is fantastic. to be honest i wasn't expecting something quite so solidly built for £520.
also the knobs have a great feel to them - nice and solid with just the right amount of resistance.
i've also found that it plays very nicely with Live. just set midi parameter send to cc and Live will happily record any tweaks made while recording - a refreshing
change from the automation troubles i had with the desktop.

I have Prophet 08 as well, it's nice and everything, but then again, it sure doesn't compare to my Evolver desktop that reigns after all these years. Therefore, Evolver FTW. Evolver is a classic, Prophet not so.
MBP OSX 10.6.8, Live 8.4, MFII, Evolver, Monomachine, Octatrack, APC40, Launchpad
Re: Dave Smith Tetra - who has one? Thoughts?
that mopho kb looks pretty nice, might check it out someday.
I am happy to know that the tetra OS update is comming soon. let's hope soundtower release a fully working software editor soon, too !
