im using 8.1 on a laptop and 8.09 on the desktop. no problems here at all.

i think a lot of folk on here find a bug and it takes over their focus from making music to being annoyed they spent a lot of money on something that now (to them) has a flaw. i think an easier solution is to recognise the flaw, report it, then go back to making music. i know that sounds like giving in to the errors, its not. your only slowing yourself down by focussing on something you cant control
did you write to the support team?
no. i didnt even give a fuck.

Emissary wrote:well live crashes with me quite alot, but only either when i am shutting it down or loading a new set. At all other times its fine. I'm not sure whats causing that. Its annoying through as it requires a total reboot of the system to load live back up again, task manager wont end the program.
could try diconnection your sound card if it's fwire or usb.

But yeah I get that not worth complaining about though compared to other stuff :)

I'm sure you'll succeed and resolve problems by doing that

even if proprietary standards are published (at least API like VST, AU etc) ... full interoperability isn't here

and it is like that for the whole of software (even for hardware, but less sensitive as, by design, standards are strongest)

if you dream about FULL interoperability, choose cubase 1.0, only full midi (even sysex) and hardware synths... it works everytime, and it is very reliable.
if you choose complex interactions between software, you'll bump your head (as we all do) in this kind of interoperability problems...
Again, it's there, it's just that people chase after the latest versions of software and in every case almost, with few exceptions the last version of a DAW before a paid upgrade is the most stable. It really does go by paid release, sometimes developers hit a solid release candidate, but it's a crap shoot. All my software is pretty dammed stable, and all of it almost is a release behind. You want bleeding edge you either do like you do and give only one company all your money, or you realize that brand new upgrades might cripple you.
I would rather 'suffer' the lack of group tracks in Live 7 than deal with not using Absynth, Massive, Zebra, Kontakt, and as soon as I can afford it Alchemy. Operator and whittled down versions of AAS instruments just don't cut it for me, sorry Abes. :(

Same here. But I cannot go back to Live 7 anymore, because all my tracks have been saved in Live 8, and they're not backwards compatible. Next time I'll probably wait much longer before upgrading to the latest version of Live. It's been such a pain in the ass - crashing all the time. I do love the features and the user interface, but it's not worth much since the program keeps on crashing.

I try beta releases frequently, but they don't seem to fix anything major.

I did my first show the other day with 8.1.

8.1 and repaired APC40 both worked like a champ. No crashes.

Behold as I drink Jack and Coke and turn knobs and fire scenes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhEDFFkdK5o

One major advantage of Digital Performer is that it's possible to save songs in older versions. So in DP7 you can save a song in DP5 format, and a composer you're working with who's on DP5 still for whatever reason can open it.

Would love to see this with Live, then if you're having problems with a new version you can still write in that version and save in an earlier version for live shows. 8)

+1000, that would make things much better for me!

Back to 7. . .

can't though because of having stuff saved in 8 format now :(
