The problem is with the session view. A low green for playing clip would be nice, or something flashing. I personnaly can only tell the difference between red, low green, and.. the others are the same color.
Exactly, and the Session view is by far the most important feature of the LP, as far as I'm concerned.

Woah! I just realised that you can indeed use the keystroke conversion thingy in Automap Pro with other apps; I finally
got my activation code, and tried it with Notepad just now, setting up a simple ctrl+z command.

Cool!!!

Yeah, yeah... It might seem trivial, but imagine the possibilities when working in Photoshop,
having all those custom keyboards mapped to single buttons on the Launchpad... It's gold!

Can use map a controller to Photoshop?

That would be seriously cool :)

i never thought about colourblindness as a problem regarding the use of musical gear.
the ableton forum is a stream of unbelievable curiosity.

try using a monome, it has only on/off.

I made a thread a while back about "other ways you can use your MIDI controller" I was going to make a Photoshop/Illustrator/ETC template.. I needed to have a knob that would raise/lower the sliders in different settings but I didn't want to get too into that cause it was really nerdy.. But a whole bunch of keyboard short cuts would be the shit, and then a rotary that would map out to whatever you had clicked on so you can dial in your transparency or whatever it may be.

Good call; the "speed dial" on my Nocturn would be nicey-nice. I just wish there were a way to
assign a complicated action to keystrokes, which could subsequently be mapped to a controller
button... Wow!

Edit: too bad you can't assign one keystroke for clockwise rotation and another for counter
clockwise rotation. Would be nice to have the zoom available at all times on a single encoder... :?

this might be a stupid or a good idea but what about placing a color filter overlay over your complete launchpad, maybe you can tell the differences between colors better in a different part of the spectrum.

That is definitely worth trying..

The thought did occur to me, but I really hope Novation will instead let the user customise the
LP's lights with an upgrade.

Are people fucking STUPID? I don't even want a Launchpad and this makes me so angry. Was there seriously no one on the design team that said, "Hey, how about we make the colors a little bit farther apart from each other in the spectrum, so there's no confusion as to which is which?" There's not a single colorblind person there, either? I hate hate hate when companies do something like this. Like, if they had picked red and blue, no problem. Instead, they use two colors that would probably trip up even non-color blind people. So fucking stupid.

hard to see for a colour blind person (on topic) in real the difference (between the green colour tone and the amber colour tone) is way less
than in this image. therefor hard to be seen for many, not all. also depending on the surrounding light conditions it can be weak (on topic)

i go watching a nice movie now.
there are two different colors of lights in that picture? it looks like they're all the same color.

Hi All,

I'm only new to DJ'ing & Producing (as is obvious at my soundcloud http://soundcloud.com/Killmono)

But in regards to the Launchpad, i run both the Launchpad & Nocturn & i have been able to make a loop change colour by modifying the Velocity?

Perhaps this helps, if not (o well i wasted 5seconds of your time).

Also worth noting, when using the "USER 1 - Mode" AKA the Drum Rack, insure you have your Launchpad Outputs set...

I thought i'd throw down some notes as i've just started mixing, but it took a while to even get to that stage with 'two controllers' that both want to use "Automap".

When DJ'ing / Playing Live:-

1.] Turn your Launchpad Outputs OFF(Your session view will remain active) but your USER 1 mode will not, that's why in the demostration videos they do not light-up...

2.] Getting the Drum-Rack to work, There are a few youtubes out there, but the long and short is you need to channel your midi from your Launchpad Input then Output to your Master, simple enough?

3.] Midimap an (Overdub?) sorry my terminology is terrible, but you need to Overdub to Jam whilst playing.

4.] If using a Nocturn, don't bother with effects on the USER 2 / FX Mode on the Launchpad, it will only play with your head & get your messed.

5.] If your big on your EQ's i recommend running these Nocturn, not the launchpad...

Ultimately, when DJ'ing i use the drum-rack to show ppl i'm actually doing something other than launching clips & samples off the pad, but its really only to add beats to 'beatless mix vocal - plateau' points i have in the sets.

------------

Sorry to take it off the colour topic, i will revert back now.

The way i modified the colour, was when i made a Visual Metronome on the pad to assist w/ playing live as i use alot of samples & i really hate having a metronome in my headset, so i just change the metronome to every 8th beat (2bars) , just to assist in the crossfades.

BAH! could go on, but didn't want to ninja the thread. (VELOCITY on Loops (When Output Active) = Colour Change = Try playing around with Velocity for colour, then using another effects to remove its functionality?).
