What I imagine will happen very soon is one of the big controller manufacturers like novation, edirol etc, sticking a ipad dock cradle on the front of a controller, and you have a ready made control surface, it's not beyond the realms of speculation by any means. Or maybe we will see a Ableton app in the appstore, it's large enough for a decent clip view I would think, maybe with a scaleable zoom on the track buttons (or something like that lol)

It's perfect for me, i don't need a laptop in the loungerrom, flicking through the net or using an app etc. I'll definitely get the one without 3G, already have touchosc on the iphone so can't wait for an update from that guy.

Personally I'm hoping for a Logic and FCP app from Apple

No Flash support. Best web surfing device indeed.

Fuck you, Steve Jobs.

Flash is 100% redundant with HTML 5. The "there's no flash on it" arguement is dead.

Google is no threat to Apple. They're more of a threat to Microsoft which isn't a bad position to be in. They'll get the customers that are sick of Microsoft but can't afford Apple's products or have some kind of mental hangup about Apple. Plenty of money in that.

I work in Flash and HTML every day and you are completely and utterly wrong.

The promises of an uber rich multimedia content experience in HTML 5 are but mere speculation; with a few highly dubious demo videos floating around the interwebs and basement bloggers making outrageous claims that have no basis in fact.

The Flash player and software aren't going anywhere.

Except for the several million existing websites with content already authored on flash.

^Exactly. ffs. Flash is so ubiquitous that even conservative estimates for some sort of HTML5 takeover puts the transition at 5 years.

Even then, HTML5 will never be able to do basic things like motion and animation tweening; nor would it be able to hold those kinds of processes natively. It will need a plugin. So you, um, basically would need to switch out a Flash plugin for....another plugin.

Fact is, the only people saying HTML5 is a Flash killer are HTML developers who hate Flash, lol.

it's counter-culture chic.

Since apple has gone "mainstream" so to speak (good marketing and making good product raise your company's popularity?! OMGGTFORLY?! Outrageous!), some people just feel "edgy" by hating on every new apple product that comes out. It somehow gives them a sense of 1337ness.

It's cool to be an apple hater nowadays.

"mental hangup" = some of us just plain dont like apple products. cult mentality has you thinking there must be something wrong with us if we dont echo your sentiments on your hardware/software choices
