not bad!!! but maybe not so useless... having fun at home with expensive gear doesn't mean to me that it's useless or gearlust stuff, FUN is a great and important thing in the life IMHO.Korg Zero 4 and (2) Numark iCDXs

Re: THE ULTIMATE GEARLUST COMPETITION IS NOW OPEN !!!!
Can we post about things we're probably going to buy that we know are probably a bad idea beforehand? I've been spending a lot of time on synthesizers.com designing a modular rack that will be far more expensive than is justified by the amount of use I'll probably ever put it to...

It was a great keyboard, but not one of Yamaha's flag ship of keyboard workstations. Main problems: not mac compatible via the USB and worked off floppy disks. At that time, I thought this is what I was looking for. On the display, it could show digital music sheets. If I wanted to learn the song, it could help me learn it. It could transpose your piano parts unto a music sheet. The keyboard could even run Karaoke. There was a video port out so you could hook it to a television. Pretty laughable now, but what a waste of money. Maybe a composer would have like the keyboard. I lost the value on the keyboard because they have came out with the third edition. The new one has an internal hard drive and is mac compatible. Price tag: $4,599.99.monstrejumo wrote:Don't really know the Tyros, but may be a great digital synth? A Dave Smith Evolver desktop for $600 of which I used 2 times...
I was almost tempted to give it away, but can't seem to part with it, don't want to sell it, but have no use for it. Can't seem to get into the button matrix.
Bought a Yamaha Acoustic Guitar processor $300 , gave it to friend who was in desperate need of better tone, within a week of buying it.
Ebow $100, used sparingly, lent it to same friend, having a hard time asking for it back, told him to hang on to it...

WIN!I've been spending a lot of time on synthesizers.com designing a modular rack that will be far more expensive than is justified by the amount of use I'll probably ever put it to.
(gimme prices)
BTW, things that you only dream about are not allowed in the competition. What only matters, is how much MONEY you used for this USELESS gearlust.
cheers

good one for the price
but you definitively should try it a bit more, the Evolver is absolutely NOT a useless toy... indeed the matrix and knobs may feel dumb and cheap, but the sound you get from this little piece of gear...
Well, I can't be the only judge here, but IMHO, Evolver can't be a gearlust dumb useless purchase

Well it does sound amazing, but if it isn't being used, I would have to say it wasn't necessary. The same year I bought a Alesis Micron and a Microkorg. Of which aren't being used either. Can't even play keyboardsmonstrejumo wrote:A Dave Smith Evolver desktop for $600 of which I used 2 times...![]()

Marshall UK DBS system
I have it from when I was 16..
traded 2 bass guitars a boss multiFX and a GallienK amp for it...
dbs + 4x12" + 1x18" (!!!)
it was the realization of my wet dreams ..
fast forward 15 years///
sick of fighting with neighbors...
I almost never turn it on nowadays....
and when I do it's usually to record some other stuff through it...
(like the evolver fi)
I still love it... but it's pretty useless to me now...

Tascam m3500 is my second useless purchase...
got it for cheap... it just takes up space in my aprtmnt..
leaning against the wall ...
this fucker is heavy... can't even move it around..

Roland MC-909
I had a friend who made cool drum and bass on the thing but I have no idea how because the thing sucks huge gigantor balls. Anyway bought it off this asshole for nearly $700 on ebay. I tried to use it but was so let down. I thought it had the same note input method of my Electribe. Just play the pattern and push the button on or off to input a note. Nope, you had to put it in record mode and the shit was just ridiculous. I have Live and Digital Performer, why the hell would I need a limited POS hardware digital sampler?
sold it for $0. I gave it to my co-worker. He's happy using it as a 909 DM. Good for him. I'm glad I got rid of it. I hate having gear I don't use.

Roland Fantom WHAT! ?
You need to be a bit more specific.

Oh, also a Nord Lead II, which I later realised was just a VST in a red box.
