Its a virtual analogue synth, made to emulate analogue synthesisers, because its digital it doesn't cost as much to make as an actual analogue synth. They can put in a lot of features and a lot more polyphony.

It's a digital synth, first and foremost. digital components from start to finish. what it attempts to emulate is irrelevant. As you said yourself, it is a disappointing synth to use in lieu of analogue gear when compared to the real deal. If you get the idea of 'analogue' out of your head and use it for digital sounds.... you will be more than satisfied. If you buy it hoping for analogue - disappointment beckons.

dum, its a digital synth yes. its purpose is to emulate analogue sounds. its purpose is to sound analogue. obviously it wont sound as phat or rich and whatever.
i have never ever wanted a digital VA synth to actually sound digital.
do you mean something like.. when your going lower down the octaves, say on a sqaure wave, its givin a certain harsh sound, rather than an actual analogue synth which would be a bit nicer?
now a dx7 using fm synthesis for big bells and swoshy clangy madness. they are digital.

The guy could have stitched his track together from found samples in audacity and I wouldn't know because it went through all kinds of lovely analogue EQs and Compressors and lush FX in the mastering stage.

but what I can tell you from using the synth is it sounds lovely for all it's digital attributes. to hold it to some stupid analogue standard, and compare it to analogue synths, well....that's just retarded and I wouldn't do it. I can't even contemplate such a scenario hypothetically.
