Ok, Audio Device=Generic USB Audio Device (USB Mic), Input Config=1 (mono) & 1/2 (stereo), Output Config=1 (mono) & 1/2 (stereo).

a completely different tack: do you have a built-in microphone on your system? If so, are you sure it is not sending signal to any of your inputs, that is, it is not just turned way down, but completely defeated?

That is strange that its showing outputs for this device when you said there are no real hardware outputs on the usb mic. Maybe the driver is misleading ableton to think it has outputs, regardless you want to use the stereo out on your mac, correct? If so you will have to aggregate(join) your "usb mic" driver with the mac "Built-in Audio" driver. Just to verify when you choose "Built-in Audio" as your audio device you have output, right? but then no usb mic of course.
In other words I don't believe you can choose the "usb mic" for your audio device inputs and then the "Built-in Audio" for your audio device outputs(thus the reason to join them because then they look like one device) but let me know.

Yeah I forgot to say, Im on a MacBook Pro 17" Yes Mikemc, I just block the in from the internal mic and selected the usb, still, nothing changes on Ableton Live

Are you sure that it's not your laptops integrated mic that's picking up the feedback?

I mean, from the attached screen shot it looks like your laptops mic is receiving the output of your laptops speakers thus causing the feedback.

Ok, I just got on a old mac g4 and also had an external audio device plugged in, I was able to go in the preferences and select for my audio input device the external device, and then for the audio output device the mac built-in audio, worked fine. I also found out you only need to aggregate the devices if you want to combine the inputs or the outputs of the devices together, there is no need in your case if you only want to use the inputs of one and the outputs of another. If you still have problems maybe put up a picture of your preferences.

Hi I perform with ableton live with my whole band I rout vocal guitars and drums
with the fast track ultra. The reason why you have the other signals coming through 3and4 is because all the other outs are defaulted to be monitored through 3/4 to change go into the software hardware setup of the fas track and turn down the all the returns in the 3/4 tab other than 3 and 4

To process vocals and other effects run vocal through a interface like the one above. I assign different outputs for vocal and drums to adjust the levels sepparetly on the main mixer to adjust monitor mix.
But I need to rework the routing so I can turn off efx in monitors and have it still coming through the mains. I believe the trick is to send the effects out of a different channel on the interface and send them to a effects send on my mixer.

Thanks so very much to everyone that in one way or the other took from your busy time to reply. Now, thanks The Chrisser. I just changed, from yesterday, bought an iPad 2 and have all the mentioned Apps. But that's only to perform as solo. Don't have the Novation nor the APC-40 anymore. Sold both controllers to invest on the iPad 2. Still, I like your idea on the Fast Track Ultra. I think it will take off all of my tech headaches. Wow, thanks for your advice. Will let you know how I did with all my new set-up. But if you have some thoughts about it, go ahead please. Thanks so very much!!
